GAMEPLAY How does that not work yet!!
So I wanted to haul some cargo in my Hermes. Got to the station, bought my cargo and let it auto-load. Got back to the terminal and retrieved the ship, take the elevator to my hangar and surprise the piece of ship ship clipps halfway through the hangar floor. Try to store and retrieve it again. Nope, it’s fucking gone and all cargo with it (about 700,000 UEC). This type of thing probably has been posted hundreds of times, but how do simple gameplay mechanics still don’t work? So frustrating and just makes you don’t want to play.

Never call a ship from public terminals, always call it from hangar.

And if you have to call it from the lobby to spawn a hangar, store it again before taking the elevator to your hangar.

This can now lead to another bug where it is stuck on "storing" forever...I haven't checked if they got that one ironed out for 4.10 though.

So basically never call a ship from public terminals, but if you have to, then store the ship before taking the elevator, but then you are still fucked because the ship will be stuck while storing.
I suppose you then have to clap your hands while removing and putting your helmet on 7 times in a row to avoid that last bug.
As CR said best : this is bullshit.

I hate that we as a playerbase have evolved to fear our own hangars 😅
All of us who’ve played for years know this workaround and it’s pretty much a golden rule now but the fact that we have to do it all the time is so cringe. Imagine explaining it to new players especially during Free Fly.
This is probably one of the top known bugs in the game and there’s no sign it’s on anyone’s list for a scheduled fix. Just rumors that it’s part of “transit 2.0” or something - we don’t know. We just have to live with this innate distrust of every system we interact with. It’s almost as if the philosophy of the game is for its citizens to suffer during each interaction with the universe.

Always a good sign when you need to remember a workaround for basic game mechanics.

Always a good sign when you need a rememinder, even after clicking the warning about unstable alpha software, over-and-over-and-over, that it's an unstable platform in an unstable state. There will be bugs, not can be but absolutely will be. There may be system instability caused by systems that are not fully functioning or just plain broken.
You click that button every single time you login. You clicked it when you purchased the starter pack.
And, yet, here we are 'eh?
Needing to know workaounds is a MUST for playing in an alpha or beta playground.

Over a billion dollars, which is more money than a majority of games make in their lifetime, and they can't fix a bug that's been there for almost ten years. Stop being a corporate apologist.

Unless its the prospector, then you call it from the lobby terminals.

Yeah, when you landed at that station you were assigned a hanger. You don't have to call your ship from the ASOP to get to your hanger. Go to your hanger then call your ship. Sorry about the bad luck. Try this and hope for the best o7

Imagine you still have to drink a bottle of water to stay alive in the game and you can't even get rid of it without using workarounds.
I have the same issue as you as well since the 4.10. Log into the game, buy commodity and let it autoload. Every single time afterwards my Retrieve buttons are greyed out for all ships, whether in the hangar or outside terminal. I have to relog. Then I can get the ship, fly to destination and sell.
There I autoload again, have to relog, etc....
And the autoload and unload for the Hull is still not working....

Strange, haven't seen this for many months/years anymore. It seems to depend on the ship and if it is loaded or not (changes mass and flight behavior). I'm taking out Starlancer Max, Prospector and Vulture regularly. But I'm still very aware and fearful of this bug. To save time, I almost always call from the lobby ASOPs, but then look for the ship marker to appear and if it stands still (else store again). As it seems, you shouldn't enter elevator until the ship is spawned. Also, physics calculations are more rough at a greater distance. If I follow these things, I never have a problem.
Storing the ship from lobby is never a problem.
Both save time since you don't have to wait for the hangar animations.
But if you often experience ship clipping, yes, retreive from hangar.
Edit: I did not want to answer just "it works for me". Here I tell what you can do that it works from lobby ASOP really well. I'm searching for ways all the years because my favorite loop is commodity trading with autoload.

so dont play. just dont log in. this is not a defense of the game, and this is not saying "you dont know alpha blah blah". i mean if the game isnt good enough to play, vote with your player login stats that CIG seems to care about so much recently, and refuse to log in and play. the bonus to this is you get to spend your time doing something else, such as other better video games that do things better, like... well anything really.
