It’s the default place for a “warm vacation” especially for people who are too lazy to get a passport, and this image is making fun of guys who stay completely within their comfort zone
Too lazy? The US is huge. There is no need to spend more money to go out of the country to go to the beach when there are world class beaches right here. No customs hassle, electrical differences, people speak your language, etc... Shit, you may even be able to drive there with as much stuff that will fit in a car. Taking a family out of country is a huge hassle from the US.
I grew up in the Far East, old man was working out there, so every few weeks we'd go to Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand for a long weekend. Longer trips to Vietnam, Australia, Taiwan etc, and back to the UK.
Don't have kids of my own yet, but since I work abroad as well my gf and I have agreed that we'll probably holiday somewhere nearby whereever I happen to be posted at the time.
Fun Fact: People go to DisneyWorld and spend 4x what I did going to 6 countries in Western Europe, and on top of that I could take public transportation everywhere and didn't have to rent a car.
Americans just don't want to leave "God's country USA".
Why would you go to western europe if you wanted to go to disney world? Is it really shocking that taking kids to europe is infinitely less interesting to them than going to disney world? I took my family to Italy for 12 days a couple of years ago. I thought it was awesome. My kids could have mostly taken it or left it. They would have much rather been riding roller coasters.
I get it, you don't like americans. It has been noted and filed in the appropriate place.
I didn't say that... but if you want a beach vacation, it's cheaper and better than doing it in another country. I personally don't like the beach but going to a foreign country where they likely don't speak your language, dealing with international travel, and other differences, is not something that is appealing to a lot of people. Especially if I can do the same exact thing in my own country. If you want to do that, fine, I'm sure nobody is going to think about it as much as you are thinking about other peoples vacation choices.
I'd rather just wait and save up then settle for the trailer park with a bow that is Florida. And traveling somewhere new with a different culture is good for you. It shouldn't scare you this much.
You are just ranting now. How about you do the kind of vacation that you want to do and others can do theirs. As mentioned, I don't think anybody cares what you think of their vacation choices as much as you seem to care about theirs.
Florida is massive, Miami Beach and the Everglades have nothing in common. You can kayak with manatees and dolphins in the mangroves, swim with gators in the springs, hike alone bears and panthers in the Ocala National Forest. There are 3 national parks and another 4 national monuments. I guess you can make it a lazy vacation if your idea of fun is margaritaville, but Florida has much more to offer.
