Discussion Now what?
I got the new freighter. It's neat and I named it courageous. But what does it do? What is it for? I'm already past tier 4 ships. Please tell me it's not going to be like the ambassador class. An absolutely gorgeous ship that I can't use cuz I'm too far into the game.

Brother its a freight ship in the middle of a time marked by wars with the Iconians, methbrained space bugs, guntoting royalist Borg and a Terran aligned V'Ger.
What are you expecting this poor thing to do?

i use them for space racing, it's less efficient than running a dauntless or miracle worker ship but it's a lot funnier

I don't know I thought there was some weird niche roll that freighters have in this game that's been in the game for like 10 years but I didn't notice for some reason. (This game's done that before)

Eeeeh not really, sorry. That being said I took that think with MkXII gear and I think I finished the storyline. So its definitely doable.

It's a great admiralty ship, as is the other freighter in the pack. other than that it's just a standard t4 really. mine lives in drydock

It has a special interior that gives you access to a quartermaster, trader DOFF missions and a summon for a security freighter in sector space to transfer contraband/prisoners. It's not designed to be a combat ship in the first place.

Just throw on twinkling lights, an uncon build with gomtuu console and you're be a heavy hitter in no time.
I say this but I did a beam overload build instead. I've only done Unwanted with it, but its survivable on Elite.

Yep I've done elite patrols with it all day. Takes a bit longer but no other issues. You just have to know how to build a ship.

Oh, no, it’s wonderful because it contains various amenities that you can use like accessing the bank, mail and exchange, trade missions, Transwarp jumps to DOFF mission areas and more.
Plus you can probably find someone wanting to run an all freighter PVE mission

Freighters are used for the utilities attached to their interiors and aren't really for combat, though some mad lads will do the hardest stuff in the craziest ships or even shuttles.
Some people build them for speed in sector space to do Tour the Galaxy and to travel between Duty Officer assignement locations.

I used to build shuttles that could tank dreadnaughts lol. I'd never destroy them but I could hold out for a while. This t4 maru was easy to build in comparison lmao.

There's a t6 version of the ambassador fyi. And the freighter is more for the space devices it comes with, not the actual ship.

I’m gonna use it so my DSE hunters don’t have to come back into port. Past that you can switch ships pretty much anywhere with it. Go to small ship bridge switch to freighter. Go to freighter bridge and switch to whatever ship you want. Kind of clunky but works in a pinch but doesn’t work with the Merchantman unfortunately.

Anyone who's saying it's useless either doesn't know how to build, a whale who buys everything high end, or someone new who's been told that.
I've been using it ALL DAY for nearly everything I do. I've not had a single issue other than things take a bit longer. I play the game for Star Trek though. Not dps maxxing zomg I can destroy everything on the map in 3 seconds. That's no fun.
I have done patrols, deep space encounters, endeavors, a few episode missions and again other than taking a bit longer I had little issues. No it's not going to tank an elite tfo or do pvp but for most things in the game it can. IF YOU BUILD IT CORRECTLY!

I'm having a blast with it, but that's because I've got a console that can make the enemies shoot each other. Makes fights real easy.

It's really pretty well balanced and to further prove a point I only have equipment on it that you can either get from reputation, exchange, or episodes. No lockbox ship consoles

The new bundle, it's in the Zen store you get three big old keys, a bridge officer that's a hologram. Klingon freighter and a Starfleet freighter. And a few more things that I don't know.

Embrace the challenge of taking it into TFOs!
Nothing prevents you from using lower tier ships, it's just harder.
