Awake today
I was so proud of myself for not drinking last night. I woke up this morning alert and feeling great!
No fogginess, I wasn’t tired, no headache, etc.! First time in two weeks!
Normally, I lay back down and sleep for an hour and a half after my kids leave for school. I stayed awake today!
But now, it’s 3:27 and all I can think about is drinking wine tonight.

Try to think about something else. I know, not easy at all. Stay on here if you have to. Maybe myself or someone else can strike a nerve with you to keep you going. You are thinking about quitting and that is a start!

Oops, I said you are thinking bout quitting. Assumption on my part. So sorry. Some people can take a break. Doesn't work for me.

I’ve gone months before. then I was allowing myself once a week. Then it turned to weekends only. Before I knew it, I was drinking every night again.

Yeah. You can make all kind of rules. Nothing after 10 oclock, nothing after dinner, weekends only, every other day. Endless and these rules don't work.

Second!
Source: personal experience - over 25 years
Finally I had to learn to accept that I cannot handle alcohol, because alcohol is actually handling me. Took me almost the entire 2 years of therapy to come to this point, where I closed the backdoor hidden somewhere in my mind.

Have you considered trying NA wines? Sparkling juices like when we were kids? It really helped me in the early days.
Hang in there, buddy. Going back ain't worth it, or we wouldn't be here.

It gets easier. But you have to do it every day. That's the hard part.
