Trying to give my diamond dove pair a rest from breeding for the hot summer, but it seems like they have other plans. The eggs are most likely fertile so i’ll make a nest for them and hope for the best!

Two years ago I posted about some Pigeons trying to build a nest in front of my front door. This year they tried in the same spot early in spring and their nest was raided by some other bird (I don't know what or I would have helped them cause it didn't even have the courtesy to eat both mostly developed eggs. It ate one and pecked open the second and left it to die and for me to clean up)

The same pair decided to try my patio in a garbage pail I left out for a bit, then left because I saw the birds showing an interest in it. Even though they put all the nesting material on the ground well outside the trash pail.

Well I left them be long enough and when I looked the other day. Babies! Its super hard to get a good picture of them without moving the entire shelf this is on. But I'm happy they finally got their babies. We have named the parents Rupert and Margaret.

I was out of town all last week and when I came back my balcony had a bunch of feathers and bird shit on it. I've also been getting a lot of pigeon visitors since then, which has been entertaining my cat. She was especially insistant today so I looked out the window and there's a fwicking EGG on the balcony? With this guy/gal sheepishly puffed up next to it. No idea when it happened.

I apologize for the photo quality, but here you go. It seems like it's a decent nest, but the choice of location is... interesting. Perhaps it enjoys watching college students walking about.

Feeding time

I saw this while walking around and shopping at the market with my family.

It would sit in the parking lot for my coworker to park. At the end of each day we'd see 3 twigs on top of the suspension. It would only choose the Denali GMC 1500.

My girl is sensational!

So yesterday i saw the oldest one take its first flight from my balcony floor out into the courtyard. This morning there are two in the nest! It came back! Apparently this is incredibly rare. Has anyone here had this happen?

actually competently made for a dove. they co-opted my window bird feeder and have raised 3 clutches so far! they've "moved down the block" and have taken up residence in the abandoned nest above my front door for clutch number 4

In German, we say "tja"...

I thought the nest was abandoned for a while until last night. Little cutie was very nice and let me get the lemons I needed.
