request ❓ Remake erratic sounding synth found in sample
I used this erratic synth sample on mpc and like the vibe, but cannot figure out how to recreate in serum or Vital to make something similar.
Synth sound in question is the lead from timestamp 1:17 below (ignore potato quality song).
https://youtu.be/5SsXTHWAP7s?list=PLRybOF7rlZrqVS2BRi5mJw6ct3R5B7pBK&t=78
Random tone changes up and down, harmonics, etc. Can't even find a close preset to start or determine what genre to search around.
I'd be grateful if any synth guru can give some hints.

Square wave with unison(try 5 voices and above), and a lot of detune(likely ~50%).
Lowpass filter to take out some highs - try an 18 LP and set cutoff to roughly ~60% or so.
Enable Mono. Add some porta/glide(this how long the pitch slides on overlapping notes which this sound has in places). I think you'll also want Always(Serum) or Always Glide(Vital) enabled too for the slight bend on notes that don't overlap.
Add a little bit of distortion, or you can increase the drive on the lowpass filter, whichever dirties the sound closest. Don't think you'll need much, just a little.
That's the core sound but it does evolve over time - some changes to the filter cutoff and possibly detune.
