Following the Bell Bay data-centre decision, I spent the entire weekend researching the broader Australian AI/data centre issue for the current Senate inquiry.

My submission was accepted for publication today. For the record, I am not inherently anti-AI. In fact, this paper contains an extensive AI transparency statement, detailing exactly where, how, and why AI was used in my research and drafting process. This report is evidence-based, as apolitical as possible, and provides some genuinely viable proposed solutions. Now that it is before Senate, I look forward to seeing what they think. :)

My partner swears that 20 odd years ago, they drove past a Red Rooster in Devonport on William St, but it was just a trial one and didn't last long.

I'm saying there has never been a Red Rooster in Tasmania, let alone Devonport. It's like Aldi, has never been here, never will be.

Can anyone provide any evidence that Red Rooster was ever in Devonport and that I'm wrong? Or is this just a fever dream of my partner's that I can confidently dismiss?

I can only find them online with insane shipping fees, I've checked all my local pet stores but they don't have them.

I'm in the south but I'll happily drive up north if anyone knows a store that sells them.

I was in the Huon Valley last week (where we're considering moving) and was contemplating a stop at Mt Field NP on the way back to Launnie. Google Maps was playing up in strange ways.

Directions from Lonnavale to Mt Field Visitor Centre: only shows a trip through Hobart, approx 2 hours.

Directions from Blackwood Farm (a site right next to Lonnavale) to Mt Field Visitor Centre: shows a much more direct trip, half the distance, and approx 1.5 hours. Google Maps warns that this trip (clearly through country roads) may have private/restricted roads.

I was wondering if anyone had personal experience efficiently getting around Southern Tas. Don't like Hobart traffic much.

Going to be heading to Hobart and Launceston next month and my partner and I are looking for some good food / restaurant recommendations that is more along the lines of casual style dining than fine dining / costs an arm or a leg ($50-60 p.p. range is good)

Also, we know that Tassie has amazing seafood and we're both a sucker for oysters, crabs, prawns, and scallops.

Please excuse my ignorance, but please let us know what other amazing food Tassie does best! We're from Sydney BTW

With Aldi mobile raising their prices 25%, I'm switching to someone else. Yomojo looks pretty good in terms of price and what you get, but it's on the Optus network. The coverage map looks good, but I know it was pretty sub-par back in the day. Any recommendations?

Approx 30-40cm, with lots of sharp teeth and it had fins all the way down to its tail. Very curious as to what it was because I've never seen something wash up like this before.

As someone who was lucky enough to experience one of the Hobart to National Park steam trains in the late 80s/Early 90s, I find the thought of ripping up rail corridor for a cycleway an absolute short-sighted and lost opportunity, when you could now potentially develop a full day River and Rail experience. Hi brains trust. Hubby and I are looking at buying our first home in Tasmania. We're interested in a small detached property that's one of 4 with a shared driveway. It's listed as a Unit. When asked about Body Corporate, the Agent said it's really common in Tasmania to have 'reduntant' body corps that residents no longer pay money in to. He explained that if there were repairs needed for the communal driveway it would be negotiated privately between the 4 property owners. Is this a normal thing in Tasmania or would we be taking a huge risk? Thank you

Hi, we are driving down to Hobart tomorrow and wanting to visit Mona on Saturday. The booking is at 11am. We are wanting to do some shopping in Glenorchy beforehand so dont want to waste time driving back down to catch the ferry.

Is the parking at Mona half decent or are we better off ditching the car at one of the shops and ubering to Mona instead?

Hi! I'm an international student who's planning on majoring in Geology. The Internet says that UTAS has a really good Geology program, especially given the geology of the island itself.

I happened to read some posts and people saying that Tassie, specifically Hobart, is not a great option because of the ongoing apartment crisis and smaller job market, but how true are they? Also, I personally love the chill and the wind, and a slow-paced life without much of a clutter or noise. Another thing that I read about was how closely knit the Tassie community is, so would it be really difficult to socialize, get to know people, and make friends?

Just that I really think Tasmania gives the perfect combination of climate, community, and isolation, along with the education I look for. ( Or at least that's what was sold to me)

In addition, want to know about the living cost situation and quality of education at UTAS. Any info about Tassie and moving to Tassie would be appreciated too! Thanks a lot!
