My personal nas mounting solution
It ain’t stupid if it works right? By the way it is a 3 TB drive, I’m gonna go broke if the 2 screws fail

Check the drive specs!
Mechanical drives have preferred directions to be mounted, so that they do not have to move their heads against gravity.

What about that 2TB drive just sitting on the bottom of the case with zero airflow?

yes, I too did put screws into the case to install hard drives where they do not belong.

Attaching HDDs on the fan slot is one of the best way to save a space if you're using AIO cooler
There are 120mm brackets to do this

Great solution but this is not good for your hard drive health. Hard drives like to be on a rubber mount for shock and vibration absorption

a lot of trust in some random screws.

Screws are fine, the problem is vibration that will slowly unscrew them. Lock tight fixes this though.

Just make sure that you get the temporary one because there's two different kinds of it.

For anyone who doesn't know, Blue locktight, not red. Unless you want it to stay till the heat death of the universe, then red.

Screws fail, busted drive and also other hard drive gets hammered and dies.
Its a good setup for a drive wipe failsafe

I'm shocked and horrified that I didn't think of that years ago.
10/10, no notes.
