esp32 fan speed controller

Post image

The fans for my 12u rack sounded like an airport so i used an esp32 to control fan speed via PWM based on ambient temp readings. It’s been hanging all janky like this for months working flawlessly.

is this kind of like using a 5090 as plex transcoder? I mean I know they’re cheap so why not, but as I just have gotten into home hobby electronics and tech, this struck me as kinda funny in a “good overkill” way lol

Oh absolutely lol. I’m not even using any of the wireless components. It’s really simple and crude firmware too. But, i had one laying around lol

That's great, what's your threshold for temperature? So when you spin them up more and reduce. Edit: more info.

It was somewhere around 85 deg F iirc.. I didn’t put too much thought into it tbh.. one day i might make it a little more dynamic with a display and controls and all that, but it works for now
