Commercialization of a receiver dsp algorithm

I am an electrical engineering student specializing in phy engineering and dsp. I 've made a project which is publishable but instead i want to try and make it a licensed product first, if i feel like giving up i ll just publish the work as a paper. It s basically a multi user channel congestion handler mainly comprising a dsp algorithm. What s the sequence of steps of transforming a matlab simulation into industry grade license ? What would you think would be the best thing to do now that my matlab and gnu radio simulations work appropriately ( I havent tried it using an sdr or an fpga i ve just written python scripts ). Is it even a good idea to try this or should i just call it a day and publish it ? I think it can potentially be highly profitable.
