(I am actually ลูกครึ่ง not Farang, but i can’t read and write fluently in Thai. Because i cannot read and write in Thai, and translator tools are banned, i am writing this post in English)
I'm half Thai and I'm a transgender. I have two traditional Thai female names. Both are related to gems. I want to change my Thai name to a male name or more unisex name. But I'm struggling to find a new name that's not for girls and have a meaning related to gems.
It's important for my Thai mother that I have a Thai name related to gems because she's from a province that is famous for mining gems. I want to respect my mother’s wishes. I don't know what to do. Should I keep my Thai female name? Or should I look for Thai male names related to gems? I can't find many Thai name for a boy related to gems. i want to choose my Thai name carefully because I live in the UK (UK) and some Thai names are not translated into English very well. Should I continue to search for a new thai name? Will it be strange to have a female name even though I am transgender (ftm)?
I would appreciate the advice from Thai people who live in Thailand and understand Thai culture very well. As a ลูกครึ่ง, I don't know much about Thai culture. My mother was not interested in teaching me about Thai culture. 😞
