Ok. Who’s going as Butter Queen for Halloween?
Sorry if this is considered off topic, but I saw it and immediately thought of Rose losing Butter Queen over a jammed churn. 😂

General discussion Nightwear!
I love the way that the costume designer used the nightwear to reflect the character traits! Blanche has sexy negligees, Dorothy has slightly unusual nightwear, Sophia has a grandma robe, and Rose has a snuggly one which she probably wore in St Olaf…

General discussion GG playlist for menopausal anxiety attacks - episode recs?
Anyone here have go-to episodes to help them get through menopausal anxiety attacks? I usually watch wherever I've left off, but now thinking of creating a playlist to help power through. I would love to know if anyone has done something similar. Would also love to hear your personal episode recommendations!

I re-watched Golden Palace and came to the conclusion the show had legs...
I've seen the show before, usually after the original series but this week I rewatched it again and there were some great episodes and writing in it. Dare I say, it was even funnier than TGG's latter season in terms of writing and the cast dynamics.
I know people generally felt it was long in the tooth and a desperate last ditch effort to keep the main show going but to me with the new addition in cast, and setting, I came away thinking it had potential and could have had a few more seasons but of course it was cancelled due to poor ratings.
The episode where they had the food critic die in their hotel was hilarious as hell but the others were fine, too.
If I'm being honest, the whole Rose is an idiot motif got a little old and tiresome on the original series. They give her a little more runway to work with on this and she pulled it off well.

Most quoted lines from each of the girls
Having watched the series many times since I was a child, I realize I say many quotes from the series even without realizing it. I quote Dorothy by far the most, but I say lines from all four. Here are my most quoted lines from each of them:
Dorothy: “I’ll try to pick up the pieces and go on with my life.” When I’m sarcastically saying I’m disappointed.
Sophia: “____ is out of my area of expertise.” When people ask me for help with things that I don’t know about.
Blanche: “And this affects me how?” when someone I don’t like is complaining about something.
Rose: “In my experience, people who talk about it a lot don’t do it very often.” Where it can be sex or anything people brag about doing.
This is also the order of the number of lines I quote from each of them. Does anyone else quote lines from the girls like these?

General discussion Sister problems
I genuinely feel for Rose’s sister Lily, but I got really
mad about the cooking incident. She was in denial about her sight, and she could have burnt down the house and hurt herself and others. I was so triggered by this scene, and I wondered if anybody else felt the same way.

General discussion Understanding the Reference
In clinic I have what I call my “Sofia patients.” They’re the 90 pond 80 year olds. I’ll generally use pediatric blood pressure cuffs and shorter needles because they have so little muscle or body fat. In general I’m very careful with them as they’re kind of fragile.
Younger staff would stare blankly before and I’d have to explain. However, lately the reference isn’t going over their heads as the show has regained some amount popularity again. Happy to see appreciation for a classic.

Golden Girls Softball Jersey from The Hollywood Show Biz League
gallerySince a lot of you asked what else my dad gave me from his time as the stage manager on the golden girls here’s something you might not ever see again. He played in this secret Hollywood show biz softball league against other major sitcoms in the late 80s early 90s. They played every weekend and there were only about 15-20 crew members writers actors etc on the team. I still wear it almost every week and love when people stop to talk to me about the show!

General discussion Holly had a lot of balls to sleep with her host's boyfriend in the same house
Holly sleeping with Gary was already bad enough, but doing it in Blanche's house was crazy. She knew Gary was Blanche's boyfriend and still brought him back there.
Gary obviously deserves most of the blame since he was the one dating Blanche, but Holly was a guest in their home. You'd think she'd at least have enough shame not to do it under the same roof.
And after Rose spent the whole episode telling everyone what Holly was like, this was one hell of a way to prove her right.
One thing I do appreciate about "Little Sister" is that they don't put a happy ending bow on Rose and Holly's relationship. They don't have them reconcile on screen just so everything can go back to normal by the end of the episode. Rose basically accepts that just because they're sisters doesn't mean they have to be friends, even though she'd like them to be someday.
I think that's actually pretty realistic. Sometimes you can love your sibling and still just not get along with them. Rose pretty much tells Holly that if she wants a relationship with her, she's the one who needs to change and make the first move. Otherwise she can leave. And that's exactly what happens. Holly leaves and we don't get some last-minute reconciliation just to wrap everything up neatly.

Golden Girls as "soothing" TV
We had a rough night last night. One of our kitties got really sick and spent a day in the ER before we had to put him to sleep. When I came home at like 2am crying, I turned on Hallmark because the GG were running all night. So I fell asleep crying with the "girls" in the background
Anybody else have the same experience? Like when you're at a low point, they give you an escape?
