Well, at least photo evidence exists that the previous hosts make cameo appearances on the new season of The Grand Tour. 😀

Will we get a Stig surrogate cast member to review cars around a track?

I know moat of this is still unknown but I hope they can keep more of the Top Gear formula like the Stig and car reviews. I know the og GT tended to move away a bit from this. I just hope its not all grabbing 4000hp electric cars to drift etc. A wider gamut will be better.

What should I watch before the new season?

With the new season coming soon, I figured it would be nice to see what these new hosts are like and what they’re capable of. I know they have a YouTube channel, but with Throttle House being as big as it is with many videos, I just don’t know where to start.

I have seen some recommendations for the road trip videos and the video about the Honda Jazz, but what kind of other videos would you recommend?

Pretty short video. Saw it went by on Instagram and had to archive it because it's gonna expire soon. It's technically an ad, but I think some folks here might want to see how the new chaps feel about taking over the show.

For anyone intrigued about the new Grand Tour, this video is a great introduction.

I think this could be really quite fun. Very different but the general vibe of the old Top Gear and Grand Tour which is essentially of 3 people who get on but also wind each other up and ultimately all love cars in their own unique way is there.

I knew quite a bit of Francis before, but had not seen much of the other two, but their love and fascination of Francis was great. A bit Gervais and Merchant 'discovering' Karl, with these two it's like they can't wait to show this entertaining car nut to the world.

Jeremy Clarkson claps back on Twitter/X!

A random Twitter/X user appealed to Jeremy Clarkson to take a break from his farming duties and come back to save Top Gear. Clarkson quickly shot down that idea before it gained any traction… 😅🤣

New Grand Tour (2026 and beyond) [Video] Why the new Grand Tour hosts are perfect

The Intercooler (r/theintercooler) dropped their latest podcast on YouTube. They discussed the reaction surrounding the new Grand Tour hosts and made the case that they will make it in the world of streaming. Enjoy!

From video description: “Andrew Frankel and Dan Prosser are joined by Gez Medinger to discuss last week's podcast interview with the new hosts of the Grand Tour, James Engelsman, Thomas Holland and Francis Bourgeois. We've not seen an episode yet, but the show looks like it's going to be great. And exactly how should the BBC reboot the golden goose that was Top Gear? What's the future for cars on TV?”

Remember when The Intercooler interviewed the new hosts of The Grand Tour? Well, they received quite a reaction to that interview, as evidenced on their subreddit. 🤔

[Article] The Grand Tour boss: ‘The BBC was moronic over Top Gear’

The Telegraph conducted an interview with Andy Wilman and Phil Churchwald, the executive producers of the upcoming season of The Grand Tour. This quote from Mr. Wilman stood out for me:

“Every time they came back with a new iteration [of Top Gear], after we’d crashed and burnt, they acted like Stalin: like it’s written out of history, that we never existed,” he says. “It was like, ‘Right, children, Jeremy, James and Richard never existed: meet your new car show parents.’ And this has not happened this time [with The Grand Tour]. The guys know they’re there, they’re with them.”

(Watch out for a possible paywall.)

Clarkson’s Columns [Times column] Jeremy Clarkson: “I don’t fear AI but a robot hyena’s no laughing matter” 🤖

Thumbnail thetimes.com

Jeremy Clarkson noticed that artificial intelligence is starting to take root around the world. He has stated in previous columns that the AI could simply be unplugged if it became problematic, though it appears that his views have evolved since then. Here’s how far I got before hitting the paywall:

“I just can’t whip myself into a panic about something that doesn’t even have a body. That’s assuming it doesn’t turn itself into a nightmarish creature …”

(Usual disclaimers apply, and given the topic, do please try to keep things civil in the comments.)

Clarkson’s Columns [Times car review] Jeremy Clarkson’s Morgan Supersport 400 review — ‘I nearly fell out. I loved it’

Thumbnail thetimes.com

The folks at Morgan sent over the Supersport
400 for Jeremy Clarkson to review. This was as far as I could read due to the reinforced paywall:

“If James May were to read this column, he would be kicking his fridge in a fit of rage (don’t worry, he doesn’t).”

(Never forget the usual disclaimers.)
