I have been looking at a lot of posts and comments on this sub, also posted a few things. Been noticing that a lot of people seem to not even like this show anymore. A lot of people say it sucks after season 6 or even sometimes hear them say it sucks after season 2.

My question is, if you don’t like this show anymore, or are bored of it. What’s the point of being on this sub? I understand if you are fans of it in general, but what’s the point if you only have negative things to say about it and don’t even watch it or rewatch it anymore?

I was legitimately expecting this sub to be filled with people who would just be stans about this show, but it’s the opposite, and i’m just wondering why.

To this day, I feel people still truly don't understand why Lori reacted the way she did towards Rick when he told her he had to kill Shane. Fans are quick to just call her a bitch and move on, in part no thanks to the unfortunate misogyny that does play a role in the overall Lori hate.

The Lori reaction becomes more understandable once you realize what she's exactly reacting too.

The overall anger is not necessarily directed at Rick, but herself. She feels guilt that all this happened because she asked Shane to stay, and then later telling Rick that Shane is dangerous.

She looks at Rick and sees a monster SHE created. To look at Rick in that moment is to face the consequences of her actions, and she didn't want to face that.

Add on to that Rick tells her Carl had to put down Walker Shane, and you have a mountain of guilt you're facing in that moment. She reacted with anger at Rick, but not truly at Rick, at what she made Rick become.

Does this excuse the reaction she had towards him? No. But what it does do is show that she wasn't treating Rick like that simply because she's a callus bitch, but because she felt responsible.

At which point did you feel like the show was too much? before this point? After?

Should I be scared about Season 6? I'm rewatching the show, and I just finished Season 5. I need to be scared? because I don't remember a single damn thing, but I know the guy with the bat is about to show up. And what I do remember from that time is horror, death, and Rick's group being terrified and cornered.

I don't want to say goodbye to this strong, slightly unhinged but fearless leader, Rick.

Maybe not the best word usage for what I mean, but I almost feel like Shane should've survived a lot longer, and the character should've been done slightly different, as he was kind of a unique character in that world/story. I feel like there's so many different ways it could've/probably should've played out other than Shane does a despicable thing to Lori, is kind of obsessed with her/protecting her and Carl, and that ultimately ends up turning into what happens, with Rick killing him due to him being Obsessed and Jealous. Just seems like after what he did in Season 1 his character should've maybe taken a turn for the better, like a "Why the fuck did I try to do that?" and was almost guilty by what he was becoming, and tried change who he becoming. That doesn't mean I think he should've turned into a Moral character, but his Relationship with Rick should've actually ended up becoming re-established and they could've been tight again, as he realized his "mistakes" (I say that loosely as SA is a Huge issue and not merely a mistake) and does everything he can to make up for it, without also massively changing, as he'd still have his core beliefs. I just think his Character is wasted on what is mostly being obsessed with Lori/Carl and basically becoming their protector again/maybe even actually wanting to Kill Rick instead of realizing he was actually the one in the wrong, in what he did/maybe there are other ways to protect people. I also feel his death as early as it was, was wasted in that there could've, even in his current state, and should've been a route where he left the group and maybe returned later on as a Villain then as well, as before he went insane I think he did have some good qualities. Just my thoughts on the Character, and how I think he was actually wasted as a Character. Though, his Character was definitely well written for how he was made, that's for sure.

DOES ANYTHING POSITIVE HAPPEN IN THIS DAMN SHOW??? I'm on season 2 just finished ep 11 judge, jury, executioner. Every single ep I watch it just gets MORE depressing. Amazing writing so far though. My only gripe is that the gun logic is quite silly throughout the show. Literally within the first 10 mins of the first episode Rick is telling a deputy to take the safety off a glock of all things, & then the deputy proceeds to toggle an imaginary safety & chamber a round of a visibly empty firearm lol. But man have I been missing out. Fuck Shane, Glenn is the MVPPPP. I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN HE FINALLY GOT SOME CHEEKS. HE'S PUT IN SO MUCH WORK HE DESERVES IT. Andrea should've stayed in the lab for all I care, & DARYL has been my fav character so far. Seeing his character development is awesome+ crossbows are cool. There's so much I could say but I'm just really loving this show so far. Really glad I didn't watch it as a kid (im 25 now), so I get to properly enjoy it with a fully developed brain lol

i don't really see it

Hi guys, I’m watching twd for the first time and I just funished watching s6e9 (the episode where carl got shot in the eye) and I was wondering, how tf that bullet didn’t kill him?
Did that bullet just graze him, or it stopped into his eye? Is this possible or just plot armor?

I recently did a rewatch after not watching for like 7 years. I took a break from the show because of how much it had departed from the source material. But rewatching.... Now I realize something. See when I was a kid like in 2005-2006 I was super into comics and the more mature ones were scary, so they were awesome to me, and I found The Walking Dead for the first time. I think it was like right when the Governor was being introduced.

Anyhow I followed it for years and thought it was awesome so when I'd heard that the same network that was doing Breaking Bad at the time would also be adapting this. As a teenager it was like hearing your favorite stupid offhand book was going to made into a full thing, it was awesome to hear, and I suspect every comic original fan remembers or felt this at some point. So before the show was even really being made we all had images and expectations in our heads from the get go.

So as time went on and we heard that the show as going to be its own thing but follow very closely to the source material, it was a bit scary but we were naive to think that the phrase "Its own thing" meant anything other than just that: its own thing. So as soon as it became a show and started to get popular and more people started to find the source material to compare and see what would happen in the future even MORE expectations started to form, while still ignoring the original statement that it would be its own thing.

Then time goes on and it gets so big that "Hype" starts to become a factor. By then the OG comic fans are a little worried about how things are going to be adapted going forwards, but happy with how the show has adapted thus far. (Season 5) As a counter to that, the hype and expectations are at an all time high. Not only that, people are trying to get set photos and spoiling things a year before they happen. Also around this time going into Season 6, the fanbase at large is getting a little fatigued by the fake out deaths and the sequence of events they try to portray in such a way to maximize suspense and hype, it was chaos trying to follow this shows fanbase closely haha.

All of this compounded up until seasons 6 and 7 (haha) Where we get to the famous moment (Will not spoil anything here) OG show watchers had gotten sick of the fake outs and the subversion style story writing that was coming with these seasons and when the famous moment happened it was the final straw for a lot, and too graphic for some. The comic fans, and hardcore fans had a little hope however. They didn't like how Negan's dialogue/first appearance was handled (along with the big moment and the subsequent seasons afterward) but because of the staying power of the character and who he was to the story at large, we all stuck it out to see where this would go. While still at this point letting expectations and hype fuel the fanbase, which had finally started to become toxic to itself.

Then Season 8 and 9 happen and we get a steady decline. All of this is to say after not watching for 7 or 8 years and coming back without any of the comic expectations and without any of the hype or preconceived notions.... The show is actually consistently good throughout its ENTIRE run to be honest. Like I don't feel that Seasons 6 through 8 were "Drawn out". I think the seasons after Season 9 are a tiny bit weaker, but not by much. That's to be expected of a show of this caliber after almost 2 decades of programming. I think the original run really suffered from the expectations and the hype and without all of it, looking back its a solid show by itself if you don't try and associate it with the source material.

TLDR: TWD IS BETTER AFTER YOU REWATCH IT A LONG TIME AFTER ITS AIRED AND DONT CONNECT IT WITH THE COMICS AS ITS OWN STORY.

Since people are discussing what if possibilities I want a 90 minute action dramatic thrill type story of Shane and Rick as cops taking down Merle as the leader of a drug ring. Keep Rick and Shane best friends and don’t make Shane evil keep him as a genuine good guy like he was before the world ended and keep him and Rick tight as brothers.

I've only just started reading TWD. I've only seen season 1 and 2 of the show tbh, and on the subject of Carol in the comics, do other people hate her? I was literally counting down the pages until she died. I understand that her mind was broken due to everything happening but holy dude

8 minute episode, going over why ultimately, the idea that Shane is a better leader than Rick: is wrong.

Going over 3 major events throughout season 1 and 2 to come to the overall conclusion:

• Attack on Atlanta Camp
• The Walkers in the Barn
• The Randall Dilemma

Everyone always jumps straight to season 1 as the undisputed goat, but season 2 is where the storytelling actually got interesting. Playing as an 11-year-old Clementine completely flipped the dynamic of the game. Instead of being the protector like Lee, you were this kid surrounded by a bunch of traumatized, fully-grown adults who were looking to you to make the heavy calls. It made every single decision feel way more helpless and intense because you didn't have the physical authority to just boss people around.

​The atmosphere and the villain also did so much heavy lifting. Carver wasn't just a generic cartoon villain; he was calculating, calm, and genuinely unnerving, which made his whole camp arc feel like a ticking time bomb. Paired with the bleak, freezing winter setting, the whole game felt suffocating in a way season 1's summer backdrop never quite reached. You genuinely felt the chill and the starvation, which amplified every bad situation.

​Then you have the character writing, especially with Kenny and Jane. Watching Kenny completely unravel after losing everything, torn between his aggressive protective streak and his breaking sanity, made the conflict with Jane so brutal. That final choice in the blizzard wasn't just an easy pick; it genuinely forced you to weigh loyalty against survival ethics.

​Season 1 laid down the emotional groundwork, but Season 2 leaned hard into the psychological dread of growing up too fast in a dead world.

I know the Walking Dead has been a bit bumpy for the past few years and with its spinoffs, but Dead City Season 3 has been doing a really good job. Is it peak? I leave that for you to decide but it is at least solid which is all we can ask for.

I mostly am saying this because I love the universe and I want the good stuff to get supported.

Maybe you won't like it and that's fine, but if you have been on the fence about watching Dead City, consider this a nudge.

It is physically almost impossible for me to not listen to this on repeat.

At this point I don't even choose to listen to it. My brain just automatically puts it on repeat.

Remember how she had every opportunity to kill or get away from the governor, and how’d that work out for her?

Just finished the episode and i absolutely loved it!! I loved how it showed that they need eachother to stay in line. This made there relationship in the real timeline far more interesting. I think this episode was totally necessary because it showed and told more about their characters. And it shuts down the rumor that they’ll end up together. (never thought they will anyway). I am worried because in the promo for the next episode negan points a gun to maggie’s head!! and dillards face being slit open? 😬😬 I do have some questions though, like when it showed in the end the alternate reality going back to our timeline, it showed maggie there life frozen, and then with negan it kept going back and forth with him saying “we would’ve been friends in another world” showing he’s like thinking about it. Does that mean that negan and maggie were thinking about that alternate reality? what are your thoughts on this episode?

It literally solves all the problems that come with cars, motorcycles and horses. Bikes are quiet, easy to maintain, you can carry them over obstacles, but no, they'd rather walk 20 kilometers instead of just taking a ride. Just imagine Daryl on a mountain bike instead of a motorcycle.

Different groups remove my stuff. I’m not a troll, I’m not negative, I’m not repetitive, i never argue, I never try to hurt anybody but yet someone I keep getting removed.

I am so sorry for anyone who likes forward to these. I stayed up HOURS writing these and carefully analyzing. I will keep watching the show but unfortunately I’ll have to do it alone. I felt Season 6 had GREAT teachings with Morgan but sadly I won’t be able to share with you guys. I love you all and thank you for not letting me feel alone.

I literally finished the episode with Morgan and Eastman and the irony is, these posts were the story Morgan told that dude in the basement house. My story and all I have is the love and lessons I give all of you and the moderators literally responded the same way as the dude in the basement did… God put me on this path but now God is redirecting.
