Because I just started a new save and this game just looks ridiculously good for an 11 year old game.

A feeling of helplessness in the face of things that have already gone too far.

It still plays on emotions after all these years. A perfect blend of superficial human issues and the profound depth of spirituality and ancient beliefs.

Yes every grandmaster set and the swords on my PS5. It took a lot of looting and crafting my own mats instead of buying them. Manticore swords in storage stash.

I’ve played a ton of Soulslikes. I’ve played Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, and plenty of games with incredibly polished, precise combat systems.

And yet, to this day, I’ve never understood why The Witcher 3’s combat is so often described as “sloppy”, “clunky” or outright bad.

To me, it’s one of the most uniquely satisfying combat systems in an RPG.

Geralt isn’t supposed to feel like a knight trading blows. When the combat clicks, it almost feels like a rhythm game. You’re constantly moving, dodging, sidestepping, countering and attacking in rhythm with your opponent. Geralt spins and flows around enemies to the point where fights can feel less like traditional sword combat and more like a dance.

And then there’s everything surrounding the actual swordplay: researching what you’re fighting, choosing the right oil, preparing potions and decoctions, managing Signs, exploiting weaknesses and adapting your approach depending on the monster.

That preparation is part of the combat system. You’re not just controlling a guy with two swords. You’re role-playing a professional monster hunter.

Is it as mechanically tight as Sekiro? Obviously not. That isn’t what I’m arguing. But I’ve never understood how we went from “this combat has some imperfections” to “The Witcher 3 has terrible combat.”

At its best, it’s fluid, deliberate, incredibly stylish and almost choreographed.

Maybe I’m insane, but I absolutely love The Witcher 3’s combat. Am I the only one?

Better Trophies is just a simple mod that adds so much variety when it comes to trophies.
The buffs aren’t overpowered, just a small boost in a particular area like Sign Intensity, Bleeding Damage, Resistances, etc.
In the Base game, you kinda pick whatever trophy you think looks the coolest, whereas Better Trophies allows you to pick your trophy with your build in mind.
I hope this mod gets added in some way to Songs of the Past! Or just more variety when it comes to trophies!

I've been checking out the GOG extras while waiting for the September 29th update. The map and the massive 500MB artbook look amazing. Also, the "Reason of State" comic is actually an interactive .exe app with animations and music where you draw signs with your mouse. It’s so cool.

I searched up the proper reading order on Google, and it gave me this list-

1. Witcher_Universe-Compendium.pdf (Basic world history and rules)

2. Comics (Reason of State) (The interactive animated app)

3. Comics (Killing Monsters) (Prequel story right before the game)

4. Matters of Conscience / Saskia Comic (Bridges the gap from Witcher 2)

5. The Witcher 3 Artbook.pdf (Character details to read while playing)

Will the remastered game update the current one, or will it be a complete separate game to download? Should I (re)install the current game first, so the update won't take as much time? Or should I just wait until the release and then download?

I came around this marker while playing and can't understand it, and how to get to it, I need your help team 🙌🙌

So ahead of the rerelease i decided to do some compare and contrast so i booted up the complete edition and went to play through.

i did the side quest where you fully upgrade the enchanters gear and started useing him as a item dump since hey, guy can make master craft gear and shits expensive.

now when ever i try to fast travel to him i get caught in a infinite loading screen and if i try to physically walk there the game freezes, any help?
On PC, windows 11.

What combat changes y'all are hoping for in the Remastered combat? I'll highlight some change I hope they'll have:

- More consistent attack speeds. When I do a light attack, some of them would be actual quick jabs cuts. Other times, they would be a unnecessary spinning attack that's a split second longer; and there lies the problem. In higher difficulties, that difference in timing can leave you too vulnerable. If the light spinning attacks have the same animation timing as all other attacks, that'll be okay from a gameplay perspective

- Speaking of spinning attacks, I actually would like it if they reduce the amount of spinning attacks overall. I don't like my character showing his back in combat. Doing it a few times is okay. Maybe Geralt want to keep his move unpredictable. But having your back exposed for half of the attack animations seems too much. More of a world building critique than gameplay.

- Smarter AI for higher difficulties, rather than higher HPs. This will entice players to take advantage of prep time, like how a real Witcher would. Health sponges don't really force you to adjust your tactics.

Hello Guys I am desperately in need for Ekimmara Hide to craft superior cursed oil. I killed all 3 in ( Following the thread, Byway Murders contract, and Dragonslayer's grotto) but for some reason I am still short.

I am playing on next gen update ( PS5 )
Finished story & HoS DLC

I've recently come back to Witcher 3 after previously playing years ago on PS4 (managed to get my save at the end of Blood and Wine extracted and imported to PC).

I'm thinking of respeccing my Geralt into a Euphoria, Manticore, Severance, Levity, Potions type build but am concerned it may make the game less fun. I don't really want to play on death march but feel like I might need to with an OP build.

My previous build was generally just a combination of combat and signs and I'd only use the odd potion situationally.

Any thoughts? My main concerns are:

1 will this trivialise combat too much?

2 is it a pain in arse necking a load of potions at the start of each combat encounter. Does it ruin the flow of the game a bit?

Obviously I know I can give it a try, but I don't have a huge amount of spare time and getting the armour and missing/upgraded potions might be a bit time investment.

I started playing the game a week ago and then the remastered was announced recently. Will my game update to the remastered or is there a separate remastered game that I can play? Do I continue with my play through or just wait for it to switch to the remastered? A little confused about how the remastered works.
