So here's how the shirt I was worried about on my previous post turned out. Thoughts?

Today’s washouts
Testing out new shirts and dye. All shirts were DOI and placed in gutters on a slight incline except shirt 4. #4 was a crumple DOI on a rack. Still trying to figure out how much ice and dye to add for projects to get desired effects but overall happy.
Shirt 3 was a New Balance shirt and was a 60/40 cotton poly blend. The other 3 shirts were George brand from Walmart and were 100% cotton.
Shirt 1 Candypop from Dyespin. Fan fold. I think this turned out great for my first attempt.
Shirt 2 Northern Lights from Dharma. I twisted this shirt from the shoulder and then kind of folded it in half thinking it might have a cool effect. Not the way I imagined but don’t think it was a complete failure.
Shirt 3 Sugarplum from Dyespin. I was hoping for a little more contrast between the yellows and purple. It definitely isn’t as bright and I’m assuming it could be the cotton/poly blend but overall I really like this shirt.
Shirt 4 Mindbender X from Dyespin. I don’t think this needs any notes. I love how it turned out and the splits did not disappoint.

First try at glitch and ice dye
First time trying both the method (ice dye) and the pattern (glitch), overall pretty happy with the results.
Shirt 1 - alchemist
Shirt 2 - deep purple, gunmetal gray, snow maiden

More dress practice - all ice dye
Don’t judge me for my unhinged attempts to pull the fabric straight, ok?!
This dress was in geode style but I was using poly kite string so I don’t think my lines were clean enough. Not my favorite but I’m sure someone will love it.

#56: Bloodmoon, Charcoal & Rust
Another roll with sinew. Bloodmoon, Charcoal Gray & Rust Brown. DUI. Added process pics. During the process I realised I was almost out of the mentioned colors. 🫣 I couldn't apply the dye as heavy as I intended, hence the many white spaces. But still a fun shirt. 😁

Saturation struggles
Really enjoying this sub and amazed at what you all do. Tie dye has been such a great evening activity for me to wind down after work and putting the kids to bed.
I went into these two with a plan and I’m trying to learn more techniques but I feel like I’m struggling with saturation on the deeper layers. I get color on the top and bottom folds and creases but not the deeper layers of the mandala
Would love any help in getting a more even saturation. Is it my tying or dying?
Also I wanted a lighter turquoise (dharma turquoise). Is that just the color or did I mix too much powder?
Thank you all!!!

Results of the Rorschach video
Alright here are the results! What do we think? I think it's awesome, the V shapes are cool, but I might see what happens when I roll it that final time instead of a third pleat. Very happy tho, almost like an off kilter shibori. I used timber Wolf from dharma because I really wanted to see the pattern and how it would lay out, but now I want to try really watery or icy blues.
Here's the post of me folding this piece

So my question is , is there much of a difference when using a textile detergent or a regular brand name detergent for the finished product ?

Pair of Red Mandala
Made a few more red mandalas that people asked for. Trouble was, I ran out of red dye! I decided to think on my feet and mix one from scratch. I used 1 part fuchsia and 3 parts lemon yellow and got what looked to be pretty close to something like oxblood red in the bottle. Turned out a bit orange, but I like them! would have pumped up more of the fuchsia if i had to do it again. Now to make an order from Dharma
What do you see? (Atomic fireball, Busted Black, Burgundy, Blood Moon, TimberWolf)
The results of a new process I have been really enjoying!

First HWI Tapestry
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So here’s my first shot at HWI on a dancing Robin 50”x50”. Played with lots of colors which I was aiming for a cool earthy with some bright colors to provide a little contrast. Used lots of colors on this one. Iron rust, sugar plum, mindbender extreme, Sherwood, moody blue, sweet violet, sultry, phoenix flame, sunspots, & Aticas Lunas. Had some nice imagery pop on this one! Let me know what faces and creatures you see!

Washouts for friends!
Trying to be less afraid of the black. It's a new thing for me. Color on both sides of the shirt and then covered in black on one side, both are gifts for friends. In addition I've been giving life to my old crappy dyes, the last set is a refresh of an old mandala.

Getting fully funky
Dye layering is epic. The sleeves were rolled and doubled over. My blue (stratosphere) and purple (deep purple) could have used a bit more urea but I still think it's dope! Cheerios!

Experimented with a new fold tye combo
Reverse ice dye with owb. I folded shibori style than tyed off like a mandala and tried out kenny style nobs on the sleeves for the second time.
