Genuine question from a returning player- what are the keys that are called tokens? What do they do?

The keys are for a game dynamic called Legendary Bitizens, where basically you're collecting these little imaginary trading cards. The keys unlock different degrees of control over which cards you get. With the copper keys, when you collect a certain amount, you just get a random Bitizen. With the silver keys, you can select which pack you want to get a Bitizen from. With the gold keys, you can actually select which specific Bitizen you want.

When you collect every Bitizen in a pack, you get that pack's buff. And if you collect multiple Bitizens from that pack, like copies, you get higher levels of the buff.

You should have a new floor as default called the legendary lounge (idk if you would need to rebuild if your tower was started before the update came out or not)

If you click on the lounge you get a spreadsheet of all unlocked legendary bits(LBs) (they are tiered based on the amount of times they are unlocked, higher level=more reward)

They are divided into groups, within each group gives a boost based on the level of your least leveled bit.

There are 4 buttons to interact with on the top:
-give us your money button
-chests (you get those pink bucks called Legendary Tickets mostly off dice rolls). The chests cost different amounts and provide chances to unlock new legendary bits, get tech points, bux, coins, and boosters. Tier 4 is usually the recommended one for farming LBs.
-shopping basket is used for buying LBs from accumulating those bronze, silver, and gold keys. Once you hit level 3, 4, and 5(max level) on a LB you will get one key a day. (Level 5 would get one of each key a day) So you start snowballing once you get a few bits up to level 3.
-key button is just the daily pickup of keys you get from your level 3, 4, 5 LBs. you can’t stack multiple days of keys here, every day it will refresh based on your LB level count (so try to check it each day if you are wanting to get the most out of it)

This is a very slow grind, I have been playing on and off since October again and I have one level 4 LB and 19 level 3s.

The best time to get a lot of keys or the legendary tickets are during events and some of the wheel spins. It is recommended to stagger dice rolls to maximize trying to get premium dice rolls on the free board, and rolling the premium board when the 150 legendary tickets being a 5% chance in the “???” Block. I think the board is on a 4 week rotation now, you can probably find posts for the most efficient boards somewhere on Reddit.

LB levels are a grind and since this has been out for a while you are at a disadvantage of there being like 70 LBs so it will take a while to get multiple duplicates to level each LB.

You will need those duplicates to level them up

Level 0->1 requires one LB (no real benefit other than they are added to the tower)
Level 1->2 will require 2 more duplicates (3 total) and once again you don’t get any benefit other than an animation when you click on them
Level 2->3 requires 3 more duplicates (6 total). Now you start getting daily bronze keys
3->4… 4 more duplicates (10 total). You get one silver and one bronze key
4->5… 6 more duplicates (16 total duplicates of one single LB). 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze key each day.

Bronze keys are used to just randomly roll any of the LBs (1/70 some chance of getting any specific LB)
Silver let you roll within a group (1/6 or so chance or getting any specific LB)
Gold you choose which LB you want.

Each time you use a key, the cost goes up to get the same key (there is a cap, but it does get expensive after a while). I would look for another post to see when using gold/silver keys is best. Probably is not helpful using them until you are about to get a LB to level 4 or 5.
