I used a website called Wandrer.earth to keep track of everything. It leverages your Strava, Garmin, or RideWithGPS data. All that remains is sides of some intersections with medians (you have to ride all 8 sides for the intersection to be 100% done) and random trail connectors remaining. I've ridden 100% of the actual streets and 99-ish% of every trial in the city.

Started in March 2021 during COVID because I couldn't ride outside with friends and I was tired of riding on Zwift. This gave my rides purpose and encouraged me to explore outside my usual routes. And I quickly got addicted.

What's the nicest/most beautiful part? The whole city! There are wonderful tree-lined streets everywhere! But really, nothing compares to our awesome trail system: Lakeshore / Humber / Finch corridor & Meadoway / Don Trail.

I was on Ward's Island this past weekend and this tree was literally split in half. No idea what happened.

Seems like 413 is gonna happen and doubt future govt can do much it be under construction by 2029.

I do think maybe the 401 to 410 stretch could be canceled but I think the 410 427 extension to the 400 would cause any party lose support in the burbs there if they against it

I was in Bendale branch and saw this wonderful sign. The staff said the program was with a group they partner with.

About a year ago, Topham Pond had a major fish die-off. Almost everything in the pond died. I fish around Toronto a lot, always catch and release, and I like checking out different spots to see how they’re doing, so I decided to give Topham a try.

I expected there wouldn’t be many fish left or any fish, but I was surprised to find lots of small carp. It was actually nice to see that the pond is recovering, whether they were stocked or someone released fish there. Unfortunately, it looks like almost all of the bigger carp are gone, and most of what’s left are small fish.

I thought it would be a great little spot for kids or anyone who just wants to catch a few small carp. What I didn’t expect was the number of people keeping fish.
A guy was fishing next to me, and a group of people walked over and started taking his carp - tiny fish, maybe 200 grams each. Around the pond there were several other people doing the same thing. I probably saw 20+ small carp taken home in just one visit.

The pond just recovered from losing almost all its fish, and now people are removing the next generation before they even have a chance to grow.

What also bothered me was how dirty the place was. I ended up picking up garbage for 30 minutes before I left.
I genuinely don’t understand this mindset. Taking dozens of tiny fish from a small urban pond that’s only just recovering seems incredibly shortsighted. It ruins the fishery for everyone else and leaves no chance for those fish to grow into healthy adult carp.

Has anyone else noticed this happening at Toronto ponds?
