SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) Matter products adding issue
Hello good people
I have a dirigera hub for 2 years or so, that's the first time I bought IKEA matter products. As I am trying to add them, it's saying it is impossible to add them to thread network and check if the products are compatible. Any idea to solve this? Thank you

Try doing a hard reset on the matter devices. I had a few that needed to have their button held down for about 10 seconds till it had completed. They were brand new from ikea, but for whatever reason, some needed hard reset and others worked straight out of box.

I ran into what sounds like the same issue. Matter, Thread devices would get found, start pairing, then sit on “checking connectivity to Thread network” for ages before failing. Zigbee was completely fine.
I tried multiple Matter devices, multiple Android devices, reset the Thread network, factory reset the hub, and even swapped the hub for a brand new one. Same result.
What finally made a difference was using a separate access point for WiFi, using another router while leaving the existing router in place for internet/DHCP. As soon as the phone and hub were on the Wifi provided by that new router, both KAJPLATS and TOFSMYGGA paired straight away.
So in my case it looks like the problem is somewhere in the router’s Wifi-to-LAN routing rather than the IKEA devices themselves.
Might be worth trying another access point (router that is) if you have one lying around before resetting everything ten times like I did...

These are heavily reliant on broadcast traffic, working IPv6, a lack of bad MLD snooping, no “airtime fairness” (can also kill broadcasts if they hog the airwaves), no “Multicast to Unicast” (“Multicast Enhancement”) if you roam between APs and your APs aren’t clever enough to let eachother know about the multicast subscriptions and Proxy ARP (I think screws up if you have multiple Thread Border Routers because an IP can move between routers)
Changing the network alone would potentially kill all the other broadcast rubbish from clogging up its broadcast traffic - or it’s just all the features above are either off or done better on your other device.
Bluetooth sends the Thread encryption key and what to join to the device (“Connecting”) then Thread gets the Matter IPv6 stuff back and for and the app then needs to be told when the device is reachable on WiFi (“Setting Up”). Knowing those 2 stages helps work out what’s gone wrong where.
I’m honestly not joking when I said I’m considering writing a book on Kindle store about what I’ve learnt past few weeks with this.

Hi have exactly the same problem, I have a dirigera with some IKEA products, all zigbee. Then I bought a matter device and I got the same error that you got. I went to IKEA and replaced the device two times and the problem persists. From what I gathered around the internet, the problem is the dirigera matter support sucks.

This seems to be a general issue. Check your router settings and make sure IPv6 is turned on.

Yeap. I've called IKEA, they said to restart everything, modem and mobiles, then put in flight mode and in a controlled way, add the products en 2G. Nothing... Their last step is reset dirigera but I have 50ish items zigbee, it would be a nightmare

The matter products are shipped with a yellow piece of paper and a qr code, can you read it? It gives more instructions on how to pair it.

I have solved my problem with another router. I was using the ISP provided router from Vodafone, maybe they block something that won't let matter work as expected....

are you trying to add them on a iphone or android phone? are they on the same network? RE YOU ISING 2.4 or 5gz did you try ressetting the bulbpa before adding?
