hi all, I have an idea to start a website of twin cities queer & trans street style. In theory I would be approaching people on the street and asking them if they'd like to be photographed and ask a question or two for a blurb. there would be an option to have one's face edited out (cutely, with a lil heart or something).

idk if I'm being anxious or if this is a valid concern--does anyone think it would it be troubling to basically ask randos if they're queer? would this be off-putting to you personally if it happened to you? just trying to get a temperature read i suppose. this would be in high foot traffic areas like parks or main drags. for the record i am a visibly queer and trans person myself.

I've been experiencing a lot of joint and muscle strain and pains for some time now and i think i have issues with my rips slipping in and of place due to years of bad binding.

What kind of doctor do i need to see and does anyone have any recommendations? I just don't want another person poking around my chest who isn't gonna be sensitive to my upper body.

My wife and I are moving to the Twin Cities in about a week and are very excited to be joining this community!

We have 3 cats and one of them, Theta, is a senior who has had a very difficult summer in regard to her health. She had a double mastectomy in July which had clear margins, but there now appears to be something questionable happening with a lymph node in her groin area.

We are moving in the 8th and I’m hoping to find a vet to bring her to asap so we can discuss potential options for further care, as well as get our other girls Willow and Freyja established with care as well.

Where are y’all taking your fur babies? Someplace that isn’t dismissive, goes to great lengths to care for your pets, and is respectful of pronouns.

Theta would have a much better outlook at this time if her previous vet hadn’t had a transphobic staff that neglected relaying my messages for the doctor / actively misgendered me on the phone and in her chart.

I would greatly appreciate any recommendations y’all have, thank you in advance!

I’m a disabled late diagnosed AuDHD AFAB adult in the St. Paul area. I have major executive functioning struggles esp with food/cooking.
I’m looking to find a trusted person who enjoys cooking/meal prep to hire to prep in your home about 14 meals per week for me and possibly more for my partner who is also late-diagnosed ND. I like simple vegetarian food. No need to be a dietician as long as you’re a reasonably good cook and understand healthy vegetarian cooking. You do the shopping and prep meals I can put in my freezer, and I can pick up from you once a week. Happy to negotiate fair compensation.
I’ve realized this would be healthier and cheaper than meal delivery, and a way to keep money in the community.

I’m an AFAB elder millennial, late-diagnosed AuDHD. Up until a couple years ago I always considered myself cishet. Then someone introduced me to the term demi girl and everything changed. When I got my AuDHD diagnosis I started learning the overlap in the ND and queer communities.
Anyways, I’m still not sure how I define my gender identity. Definitely NOT a neurotypical cis woman, but definitely not male either.
Anyways, I’ve LONG wanted to have my breasts removed. I had a consult a couple years ago but felt really dismissed and kind of gaslit. Dr told me I would look/feel disproportionate even though I’m a healthy and symmetrical 5’8 and 150 lbs. I’m also worried that esp for insurance to pay, I need a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, which I don’t feel that I have. I’m totally comfortable being identified as a woman, even though I personally know that I’m something else. I am not trans, and telling a Dr I am would feel very disingenuous. I just hate having boobs and desperately want them gone.

I’m a late-diagnosed disabled AuDHD millennial with severe C-PTSD from my family of origin’s abuse. It’s been really hard trying to find a therapist who understands AuDHD AND narcissistic abuse.
It’s very important I see someone in person, NOT virtual. Ideally in my age range (30s/40s).

I know a lot of local independent gyms are pretty friendly (obvs Solcana, Campeones) but are any of the larger gyms with pools and pool programming known to be trans friendly (or trans hostile for that matter)? TIA!

Does anyone have experience with getting it covered via Medica insurance? Or am I better off just getting a new plan once open enrollment begins. The best thrift store in the cities is hosting a Disability Pride Festival tomorrow in their parking lot. It’s a nice intersection in Richfield with good casual restaurants nearby and also a pretty dope newer dispensary not far away too. Arc’s Value Village is one of the most community oriented and welcoming establishments in the area and I figured some people here might find this interesting! (I live right nearby and didn’t know about this until I saw it on Facebook Events just now.)

My partner and I are relocating from San Francisco to Rochester, MN, and I couldn’t find a Rochester-specific trans subreddit, so I’m hoping folks here might have some recommendations!

We’re both in our mid-20s and totally happy to drive up to the Twin Cities for events, meetups, and community, but I’m curious about what exists closer to Rochester too.

A few things I’d love recommendations for:

• Is there much LGBTQ+ community in Rochester, or do most people go to the Twin Cities for events/community?
• Are there any LGBTQ+ organizations, meetups, social groups, cafés, spaces, etc. you’d recommend checking out?
• Lesbian and trans-specific spaces/events would be especially appreciated!
• Are there any recurring events or groups that would be good for newcomers trying to make friends?

I’m also looking for resources for my little sister. She recently came out as trans and moved to Rochester with my mom from Georgia. She’s starting her first year of high school and has been feeling pretty lonely and struggling to find people she relates to.

Our family is supportive, and as her older sibling who has gone through my own coming-out journey, I’m trying to give her as much support as I can. But I also know there’s only so much family can provide — I really want her to have friends her own age and a community where she can just be herself.

Are there any trans/LGBTQ+ youth groups, teen events, community centers, or other youth-friendly spaces in Rochester that I could look into with her? Even events that aren’t specifically for teens but are PG/PG-13 and welcoming to families would be great.

She’s also really into taekwondo and running and is genuinely a fantastic runner. If anyone knows of trans-inclusive youth sports programs, running clubs, martial arts programs, or other activities where LGBTQ+ teens have had good experiences, I’d love those recommendations too. It definitely doesn’t have to be a specifically trans sports club - mainly somewhere she can participate and feel safe and accepted.

Rochester recommendations would be amazing, but we’re also open to things in the Twin Cities that might be worth making the drive for.

I am a men’s 10.5/women’s 12, brands may vary. I also have big calves to contend with so I’d be a W or a WW for boots.

I’ve been feeling rather de-feet-ed in my search already at some of the mainstream shoe shops like Schuler and DSW. They always could special order or I could buy online but I gamble on proper fit and comfort then. Plus if I buy something online and it doesn’t fit, I’m less likely to return it given the increased hassle to do a return.

I would really like to find a lovely queer safe place to shop for shoes that has a selection of shoes for bigger women. I’m not too terribly picky on location. Closer to Minneapolis and St. Paul the better. I live in the inner suburbs.

I would really enjoy getting pumped up for some good local options, so if anyone has any, I would totally welcome recommendations.

Sharing this so others might avoid an uncomfortable interaction. I would recommend that trans people avoid seeing Dr. Groth at Schweiger Dermatology in Edina. Maybe I should have known better than to go to Edina but he was just the first name that came up when I searched for providers through my insurance, I'm not from around here so I don't know if I'd have better luck if I'd have just stuck to Minneapolis. Unfortunately he made me really uncomfortable and spent the majority of our brief appointment remarking on my body and asking questions about my transition. None of his comments or questions had anything remotely to do with the reason for the appointment, which was a routine skin check. I felt I was treated more like an object of curiosity than a patient. Which of course was nothing new to me when it comes to interacting with doctors, but I would hope in the Twin Cities area at least there might be better options for trans-friendly or at the very least neutral and professional derms.

For context I'm a trans guy. He was really fascinated by the fact that I look the way I do without currently being on T. Nearly everything he said to me was related in some way to my being trans, like commenting on my facial and leg hair as if he couldn't believe I would have any without currently being on T. He said this was all "very informative" to him, and I guess it's nice that one of us felt that way at least.

I was feeling pretty creeped out and disappointed but the appointment ended quickly. When I left the exam room Dr. Groth was working on his laptop in the hallway. He stopped me to talk to me more about HRT, commenting that since I had retained so many changes without T, was there really a reason for me to ever take hormones again? I just sort of nodded along because I wanted to leave and also the practice is small, so I could literally see and hear other people in the lobby right next to us. Then he asked me if I take contraception. This was really the moment that cemented the bad feeling I had. Our appointment was over, the question had nothing at all to do with the reason I had seen him, and the lobby was literally right there. It felt really inappropriate, paternalistic, and gross. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it just felt so condescending, like he just had to let me know that he knows that I could possibly get pregnant? Except he doesn't know that, because he doesn't know anything about my health or surgical history or my sex life. So wtf.

Just thought I'd put this out there on the off chance it steers anyone else in a different direction.
