Most apps show you a pitch number and stop there. Resonance is the thing that actually changes how you get read, and almost nothing measures it properly.

Then I ran the same tests through Praat, the software speech researchers publish with. At the pitches trans women actually train at, Juni came out more accurate. One test voice with resonance at 1900 came back from Praat as 1550. Juni was within a few percent of every answer.

That comparison is on default settings and high voices specifically. Praat is a great tool and experts tune it per speaker. But out of the box, on high voices, it drifts, because it's built for speech in general and we are not the general case.

No "how feminine do you sound" score. That number isn't in the signal, and anything claiming to have it is guessing.

Hey there, I was lucky enough to get a block for my testosterone before hitting puberty, I've been taking estrogen for a few years now however my voice still prominently resembles that of a young teenage boy, any tips or info to help with getting a more mature/feminine voice would be highly appreciated!

3.5 months on T, voice tools says my voice has dropped but i still feel like it very sounds female, or at best like a 13 year old boy. i've been working with vocal masculinization exercises but maybe i'm naturally nasally or something. curious if other trans guys have experiences with this phase?

Hi all! I’m 6 days post OP from glottoplasty and am really worried about my results. Since day one, a side effect of the procedure has been an absurd amount of phlegm/mucus on my lungs which I’ve been unable to avoid coughing up. No matter what I try, even if I sit in agony resisting the reflex, eventually it’ll just suddenly happen without warning. I’ve done by best to do this as gently and as few times as possible, but realistically have coughed over 100 times. This morning, I also accidentally said one word while I was waking up half asleep, and it sounded extremely deep and hoarse. Is there any way to know if my sutures are broken? It feels like a foregone conclusion but I’d really love some reassurance/advice as I’ve been an anxious mess since my first cough. Thank you!

Hello there everyone I started picking up VT and I recently came out to two best friends of mine about my transition into womanhood(they where onboard and fully supportive of it) and I got two different takes on my voice one of them said I sounded like a valley girl and the other said I sounded elegant and mature and I want to know anyone's thoughts here on it when I send my voice clips here and if there's anything that needs adjusting or anything. I'm aiming for a feminine voice in general but as for a clear direction unsure but either of those two don't sound bad and I'd have no issues with choosing one of the two of them. Personally I feel like my voice fluctuates too much to be considered one general way tbh. Anyway I hope to meet some friends here too and I'm happy to be here stay safe everyone and have a good day or night depending where you're at lol.

Exercise 1 mentions "clench the rear of your tongue and your larynx will raise." Try that, can't figure out how to clench the rear of my tongue. "If you're having trouble put your tongue behind your front teeth." Do that. Larynx does not raise.

This purports to be a trick that shows everyone can voice train. I do the exercise, my voice does not shift in the way it's supposed to.

This has happened with so many video guides, it's not remotely funny. Why is there so many bullshit guides on this subject? I'm genuinely considering that this is a fucking psyop.

Sorry for the heavy Singaporean accent. I was feeling very frustrated and decided to do an impromptu rant while I was outside. This was completely unscripted and fairly lengthy and there are parts where I spoke louder, softer, and lower pitch so it should be fairly representative of how my comfortable trained voice sounds.

Do I sound male, female, androgynous, atypical, or a mix?

This isn't easy to write. I'm 14 weeks post glottoplasty and my voice isn't noticeably different from pre surgery. The wound site has healed well - surgically ok. My vocal qualities place me in the surgeons lower quartile.

The length of the vocal chords are reduced, the stiches are good, so tension is ok. The mass of the vocal chords are questionable.

Five weeks ago the surgeon measured Fo 160 Hz
