š£ Announcement Official Beginner's Guide for "I'm losing my hair, what can I do?"
r/tressless • u/AutoModerator • 1d ago
šø SELFIE THREAD šø Sep 01, '26 Monday Mega Thread: ask general questions, share hairline photos, side effects, āAm I balding?ā, āWhat should I do?ā, and more
If the date in this post's title seems old, look for the newest thread here.
Use this thread for general questions and advice, āAm I balding?ā, āWhat should I do?ā, āDoes anyone else experience this?ā, as well as discussing side effects, treatment experiences, or looking for opinions on your hairline photos and treatment options.
If you want useful feedback on your hair, post good photos: high resolution, multiple angles, good lighting, and ideally both wet and dry.
Mention what changes youāve noticed and over what period of time. Some people naturally have thinner hair, a higher hairline, or less density, so context helps members give you better feedback. It's vital to take identical photos every few months. Remember that consistent lighting is extremely important.
Age and family history are worth mentioning.
Just starting out?
- Read the beginner's guide
- Read the "learn" section section with different treatments like finasteride and minoxidil.
- Use search before asking any questions.
- Chat with TresslessGPT to ask any questions about treatment or their hairline.
Ready to start treating?
- For a professional assessment, consider speaking with a doctor for appropriate blood tests or a dermatologist who specializes in hair and scalp conditions.
- Start a journal on community.tressless.com, and update every couple of months.
- Depending on your goals, you may eventually want to consult a hair transplant, SMP (scalp micropigmentation) or hair system (wig) provider about cosmetic options.
You might not get an answer if your question is too basic or common, because treatment is the same for almost everyone. Nobody can predict if a treatment will work for you.
This is a community, and you can help out fellow members by commenting under their photos and upvoting people that leave you comments. We're all in this together!

Finasteride/Dutasteride Dutasteride 0.5mg 6 months daily
Progress from using Dutasteride daily for the last 6 months are these valid results?
Switched from Fin in March, so March to 1st Sept Iāve been on Dut only daily, I started shedding like crazy about 2 months ago and last month I couldnāt take it anymore and decided to get a buzzcut lol (regretted it) but I donāt hate it.
My question is it working now? Pics in order From last month 31st July I got the buzzcut to yesterday both taken during the day(if scalp looks a bit red itās because Iām on holiday right now and got burnt lol nothing to do with irritation etc)

Finasteride/Dutasteride Switching to Dutasteride after 11 Months 1mg Fin, 9 Months 2.5mg Min// 6 Months 5mg Min.
2 month update.
My hairline started going so I started trying more things.
Started these mid August:
- ketoconazole shampoo
- Act + Acre Scalp Serum
- Immune system supplements (Arma Collestrum)
Keep in mind I still smoke weed w tobacco and vape! Two big reason i think my follicles are suffocating but quitting is one step away.
The hairs I have left are stronger but iām still losing hair. So I think dutasteride is best. I start tomorrow.
Timestamps at the top of each photo!!
I pulled my hair back in the (friday) photos so you can get a better look.
This morning was one w wet hair. SEE YOU IN 2 MONTHS!!

Is this regrowth? 12 Months DUT and MIN. Is this a normal amount of regrowth for this timeframe?
Hi. Iām 23 and have been taking 0.5mg DUT and 2.5mg MIN orally daily for 12 months now. The first photo I took on the first day or taking medication and the second photo is now, exactly 12 months later. I definitely see some improvement but Iām just wondering if this is the normal amount of regrowth to see at this point? I donāt have problems covering this up with hair fibres (Topikk are an absolute god send!) but Iād obviously like to stop having to rely on them at some point. Open to all opinions and advice :)

Technology Clascoterone full results 2026
Anyone know if the clascoterone full results will be released at the EADV conference 23-26 September? Apparently Cosmo themselves said it would be released in fall 2026. This is chatgpts best bet.

Finasteride/Dutasteride What is up with Dutasteride making peoples hair loss worse
Sorry but 'the negative people are the loudest/the ones who come on the forum' doesn't make sense to me.
I'm pretty confident a post about fin only experience here would be at least 80% positive.
In fact I see a very pro fin view on this sub.
But the threads about switching from fin to dut the majority of people seem to have gotten worse?
I wanna switch to Dut permanently for hair greed/regrowth on temples but fin is maintaining my NW1.5/2 reading these stories has made me question it.
I know forum posts arent good evidence compared to studies, but still. Can someone link me studies that talk about the SWITCH from fin to dut?

What should I do? 10 months 0.5 dut and 2.5mg. Progress update.
The first 4 photos was about 3 months ago on dut and min (7months in). The last 4 are my hair currently. It just keeps getting worse. Iām contemplating hopping back on fin. I switched cos I got greedy. Not sure about my next steps.

Ketoconazole Sawpalmetto extract oral+topical sawpalmetto/rosmesry oil +microneedling+redlight+fluconazole shampoo results
Hi everyone, decided to make this post as a long time lurker of the community and wanted to make this for anyone out there that was like me balding at a young age (M) and didnāt know what to do.
Some background: My dad was totally bald at 21 other than the sides and back of his head which he still has today. I began balding in highschool which was extremely embarrassing for me as a 10th grader with the hair of an unlucky 30-40 year old makes it hard to fit in. This is when I had began to start using basically every natural treatment I could, including saw palmetto shampoos and premade oils which I saw pretty negligible results with. Point being tho, if itās natural and out there, Iāve probably tried it. Now in my mid 20ās my hair is better than it was in highschool and within a year of being strict with my routine and taking my supplements regularly you couldnāt even tell I was balding at one point, although I couldnāt fully reverse my hairline being a little higher than prior it doesnāt bother me at all as it is mostly 95% back to what it was when I was younger.
What actually worked: Getting a pure Saw palmetto extract oil and diluting it in a base of other natural oils with a rosemary extract 2-3 times a week along side taking 1 sawpalmetto 45% saponin extract daily was all it took to reverse a significant portion of my dht related hair loss. Combining this with a Dr.Pen for microneedling (used the rollers before this but they didnāt help as much), fluconazole shampoo to wash off the oil from my hair on the days that I did use the oil mix as it is quite harsh on your natural oils stripping everything with sulfates etc in the ingredients, however that works great when you have left hair oil on for 12+ hours. The redlight cap I used initially as recommended 2x a week for 15 minutes but this was the least consistent part of my routine, at the beginning I was stringent with it but I did not see results from the first couple months so I ended up not doing it at all (in hindsight this does take 6-12 months of use apparently for it to work. The combination of these helped me avoid using any min/fin/dut etc which I basically thought would be my only hope and provided me with lasting hair growth that doesnāt go away if I miss a week or two of using hair oil or microneedling. I used the microneedling about once a month from my family friend whoās experienced with similar products but not specifically these types of microneedling devices so there was a learning curve there where I was the test dummy, but this also made a huge difference in my opinion. I will try to find my before pics and post them with my current hair if anyone cares to see, but I mainly wanted to make this post as a guide to anyone about to take the plunge to min/fin/dut etc as a message that thereās truly natural methods which can produce great results. The combo of the oils + fluconazole shampoo + microneedling (which even the roller worked great) made the biggest difference imo, and I highly recommend anyone experiencing similar hair loss to try this!
*I will have to mention however the potency of the saw palmetto oil I use is very strong, and I havenāt been able to find a similar strength topical anywhere basically but that might have changed now. This is actually from from a skin care ingredients distributor my dad found, if anyone is also interested in the products I can try to list what I used but in general I think as long as youāre using high quality stuff which is actually what the label says it is it will work! Sorry if my dyslexia made this hard to read / understand and I will try to answer any questions anyone has. I donāt wanna seem like Iām advertising anything so I left out the brand names but if anyone is interested I can try to help out there too, just hoping this helps anyone in a similar predicament I was in. I have had hormonal issues growing up and was terrified of using stuff that potentially would block my hormones further (wether or not it was justified) along with using something like min that would result in me losing my hair if I didnāt keep up with the routine. My hair is now so thick I get compliments from hair stylists all the time on the thickness which never use to happen and overall I donāt feel the same insecurity I did my entire life nor am I terrified using hair gel once in a while will cause my hair to fall off (bcuz in the past it really did have detrimental effects to the little hair I had). Cheers to happy healthy hair!

Minoxidil Increase oral minoxidil dosage?
anyone with mild success on oral minox increase their dosage and found better success?
43/m and have been on 1mg/fin+1mg/oral minox for the last 2 years (prior to that, i was on 1.25mg/fin and 5% topical minox for 19 years).
the front part of my hair (from hairline to around 2cm in) has been thinning for the last 3ish years. i understand my age is a contributing factor. switched to oral mix two years ago.
then a year ago i started using the ordinary's peptide hair serum in mentioned area (applying tretinoin 20mins before serum application) and although i experienced a lil new growth around 5-7 months in, the overall area is still less dense than it was previously. i can see my scalp.
thinking i'll try to increase my oral minox dosage. i'm due for a refill and will consult my doctor but wanted to read on other user's experiences.

Research/Science Which European countries tend not to enforce prescriptions at pharmacies?
It is really interesting how much prices fluctuate depending on country - which countries within the EU are cheap for say oral minoxidil and dutasteride and also tend not to enforce prescriptions i.e. if you rock up there on holiday they'll sell you it no questions asked?
