Gameplay Trailer Reveals Tropico 7 Release Date by Order of El Prez

Start date of his new era of dictatorship. Later in the text. Maybe.
Today, we have released the first gameplay trailer for Tropico 7. In accordance with El Prez’ edict, the release date is not disclosed in written form and revealed exclusively within the trailer – though El Prez may, in his infinite mercy, decide to spare you the date by the very end.
Citizens and future leaders are hereby instructed, and El Prez addresses his people with unmistakable authority: “Some information is not given. It is earned. Those who wish to know the future of Tropico… must watch, and obey.”
With an expanded system for political constitutions, edicts – which now dynamically depend on El Prez’ political position – and a new political matrix, new city building mechanics like curved roads and even roundabouts as well as terraforming, Tropico 7 continues the series’ signature blend of construction, governance, and satire, placing even greater emphasis on how leadership decisions shape Tropico under one unmistakable rule.

But fine. El Presidente is feeling generous today.

Tropico 6
Tropico 6 is on sale at Steam, at an approx 66% reduction.
I've been working my way up from Tropico 1 and currently doing the T5 DLCs.
For you season pros: is T6 worth buying other than to complete the set? Seems to be mixed reviews and feelings about it.
Appreciate your thoughts and comments
Edit: thanks to everyone who's provided feedback

[Meta] Where are the Youtubers?
(Tagged Meta cause theres no T7 option yet.)
Tropico 7 just had a big trailer like five days ago, that even came with a launch date, but every time I look up tropico 7 on YouTube, I don’t see any of the Tropico YouTubers talking about it?
Where’s the hype?

[T1] Haven't played the series the first game! How are the others?
Oh my, never would I thought I would see Tropico in 2026. I always had fun memories playing the first game on a CD as a child. Didn't know how the game plays but the soundtrack definitely help make the game.more interesting and fun to play. I literally was just fiddling around with stuff, being a bad El Presidente, but I really enjoyed building my own city in a big island.
I saw LEGO Skylines recently and made me miss Tropico, so I was very surprised to see that thoa franchise still exists and that it's in its SEVENTH ENTRY SOON?!! Where was I when more of these games released?! Now I am.ezcoted to give these games a try as I haven't played a city builder since the first game. How are the other games? Should I buy them all? Are any of the DLCs worth it? Can I just enjoy them without the DLCs? I am hyped for 7, so I wanna get all of these games on my Steam account!

Just started 6
Want to know the actual benefits of running a brutal dictatorship and/or atleast the steps in accomplishing it. I could amend the constitution and immediately clamp down on all personal liberties of course but are there certain steps to do it in to keep the population from uprising immediately? I feel like it should be possible to run the dictatorship after going through some level of violence but the impression I'm getting is that it's nonstop war once you commit to an authoritarian government. Am I wrong or are there certain methods to pacify the population?
Tldr I want to successfully crush my people. How do I do it

[T7] assassination attempts should be added to tropico 7
along with assassinations should be speeches that don't require an election or a protest, just promises to make people like you even more
assassination system: in your civilization there is a 1 in every 100 chance for a home, mansion, or any building with a slot number of under 4 should have an assassin citizen
only one of these types of houses spawn and are marked to be the house of an assassin
when found there should be 2 things you can do
1: arrest him/her/whatever to stop potential future deaths
2: pay them to assassinate different people, this will be cheaper than accidents but has a chance of them being arrested, also killing your opposition will delay election but can only be done twice since the assassin will be arrested
3: killing a filthy rich person can make their family pay you to find the killer

I'd love to see a new mechanic around El presidente
I want some personal satisfaction metric or personal power kind of goal that encourages you to reduce liberty and requires cranking up propaganda in order to maintain your grip on power. Prop yourself up at the expense of your people. Tropico 6 made it pretty easy to keep most groups satisfied.

[T6] Building the best looking Tropico?
(Sorry for bad English)
So I have tried to create the best looking city I can but I suck at that.
Am kinda new in this game as I haven’t played it much since I bought it. At least not enough.
I am in creative mode and have infinite with money and like am on super easy mode so I can do however I want.
My problem is that I don’t know how to build so it looks nice in the country.
I don’t know how to start and what is the best way to do it.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Or any pictures on how they made their own tropico?
Am so grateful for all the help!!!!

[T7] Tropico 7 Dev-Log #3
Tropico 7 Dev-Log #3 | The animation behind Tropicans
The new dev-log has eased my fears a bit with the new installment being just another AI-art produced game.
Although, it does seem like gen-AI has just been referencing old art, especially with Tropico 6, which is why all new art from the franchise after 2025(eg. Return To Nature DLC) felt off. I remember an artist that's been making art for decades complained that most gen-AI has been scraping off of their hundreds of content to make what we see now with 2D AI art.
Anyhow, excited how the new interactions will go for the new game though, I wanna see more on how the era-progression will be handled this time.

[T7] Do you think Tropico 7 is actually releasing in 2026?
There are only 130 days left in the year, and the whole marketing rollout has been really slow, especially considering the game is supposed to launch this year.
Do you guys really think Tropico 7 is still coming out in 2026?
