In 1955, 11 witnesses near Kelly and Hopkinsville, Kentucky, claimed they spent hours under siege by small, glowing creatures with oversized eyes and claw-like hands. They fired rifles and shotguns, called police, and officers found evidence that shots had been fired, but no creatures were found
On August 21, 1955, two families were gathered at a farmhouse when strange glowing beings began appearing outside shortly after a bright object was reportedly seen streaking across the sky. The creatures were around three to four feet tall with oversized ears, silver or pale skin, and an unusual floating or gliding movement.
As the creatures repeatedly approached the house, family members fired at them but claimed it had little or no effect on the strange creatures. Instead of falling, the beings allegedly flipped away, drifted into the darkness, and kept returning for hours.
State and military police along with reporters returned to the farmhouse to investigate but there was no evidence of creatures, spacecraft, or a clear explanation for what had frightened the families.
Skeptics have suggested the witnesses may have mistaken, great horned owls or other animals for alien beings in the darkness, while believers argue that explanation doesn't account for all the eyewitness testimony or the hours-long ordeal making this one of the most famous alien encounters in American history.
