Answered x.com pop-up login requirement notifications? Spoiler

Post image
17 Upvotes

Dear uBlock Origin devs, thank you very much again and again for creating such an amazing tool to mitigate ads and tracking.

For me personally, uBlock is working great on both on my PC with Firefox browser and on my phones with Edge browser.

Recently x.com blocked most of the Nitter instances, so it's quite hard right now to browse x.com anonymously.

Could you please share if any of uBlock Origin custom filters exist to get rid of x.com pop-up login requirement notifications?

Waiting for feedback How to hide all etsy recommendations

Upvotes

When I'm trying to view etsy I am usually coming from an artist's link to their shop from another site or just there to get to my favorites or cart. It's seriously overwhelming to have the entire page be full of recommendations to try getting me to stay there longer.

I tried to add a custom filter but it still keeps all the other identical containers. It might be hard too because every recommendation has different text. Ex "cryptid stickers" "cat decor"

###content_group_ba_v2__100-26 > .wt-pl-md-0.wt-pl-xs-2.wt-pr-lg-6.wt-pr-md-4.wt-pr-xs-2.wt-mb-xs-2.wt-align-items-center.wt-justify-content-space-between.wt-display-flex-xs.hp-carousel__header-group

antiadblockcore dot com is something I have been coming across recently and it seems no ublock filter is able to bypass and only you can get through the page is by turning off uBlock (which is something I will never do). Any workarounds?

Fixed ClickFix attack preventing me from using a button to copy something to keyboard

Basically the title. I'm sure that new filter could be pretty helpful, but it's mostly just getting in the way. There's this website I use that has a little button to instantly let you copy a bunch of text to your clipboard so you don't have to highlight it, I'm sure you're all familiar with the concept. However, it keeps getting blocked by uBlock because it keeps getting registered as an attack, and I don't see a way to ignore or overwrite it.

Pretty inconvenient because now I gotta manually highlight the text instead. Guess it's not the end of the world, but the fact that something benign is being flagged and I have no way to disable that is really annoying. And I can't just add it to my list of trusted sites as it does have a few cosmetic elements I want to keep blocked. Bad design choices, nothing serious.

So, any advice? Is there a way to disable the ClickFix filter? I didn't find anything when I looked.

Fixed Comunity website classpad.dev gets merked as ClickFix malware.

Hi, I am a core member of the Hollyhock community wich is focused around classpad II / fx-CP400 / fx-CG50 modding.

The website https://classpad.dev which is run by the Hollyhock comunity gets its installer blocked by uBO's ClickFix protection. We use a common irm https://get.classpad.dev/ | iex as no existing installer infratructure could accommedate our needs of usually but not allways preinstalled dependecies and one time use programms. We do not use WIN + R as that triggers windows defender antivirus but rather opt for the user manually opening powershell.

With recent uBO the copy button ceases to function and a banner gets displayed about a potential ClickFix attack.

Source code of the "installer" is avaiable on GitHub. The source of the program itself is private because of the high potantial for exam mode bypasses wich would hurt the comunity a lot but if access is needed I/we can arange something.

Fixed Clickfix blocking work functions

I need to find a way to disable the clickfix protection on edge. The primary webapp we use at my workplace has a click to copy feature for VIN numbers which makes looking up parts and labor so much simpler but randomly today it blocked my from being able to use that feature. I need to disable the clickfix protection. I don't care about the risks I use the same 6 websites and we don't keep anything important on these computers.

Looking for help Firefox tab crashing randomly

My firefox tabs keep randomly crashing due to uBlock Origin. I toggled all my extensions and uBlock is the variable. It will happen when opening a new tab, loading a bookmarked site, or even in the middle of watching a youtube video, I can find no root cause. I'm using both the latest release of firefox and uBlock.

Polish movie site, filmweb.pl show unskippable video ads every time I visit. Unacceptable. How to skip them once and for all? I saw that disabling cosmetic filtering would work, but it doesn't.

So, how.

Solved Discovery+ (play.discoveryplus.com) — ad-tech scripts spam requests with zero backoff, working filters inside

Found this while investigating why a Discovery+ tab was pulling 10%+ CPU on a 10-core desktop just sitting open, paused, not even playing.

The problem: two ad-tech vendors' scripts — brightline.tv and litix.io — retry their requests continuously with no backoff, for as long as the tab stays open. Tens of thousands of requests over a session, tens of MB transferred. This was drawing over twice the pc's idle power.

What didn't fully work: basic network blocking (uBlock dropping the request) — the CPU stayed high because the script keeps re-attempting regardless of whether the request succeeds or fails.

What worked: killing the attempt itself with scriptlets, across all three request types per vendor (fetch/XHR/sendBeacon, since I wasn't sure which each one used):

play.discoveryplus.com##+js(no-fetch-if, /brightline\.tv\/config/)
play.discoveryplus.com##+js(no-xhr-if, /brightline\.tv\/config/)
play.discoveryplus.com##+js(no-sendBeacon-if, /brightline\.tv\/config/)
play.discoveryplus.com##+js(no-fetch-if, /litix\.io/)
play.discoveryplus.com##+js(no-xhr-if, /litix\.io/)
play.discoveryplus.com##+js(no-sendBeacon-if, /litix\.io/)

Results:

  • CPU: 10%+ sustained → under 1%
  • Requests: tens of thousands over minutes → ~6 over 20 minutes

Also tested three configurations for comparison:

  • No blocker at all: moderate, rising CPU (2-4%)
  • Blocker on, without these filters: worst result — high CPU (8-10%)
  • Blocker on, with these filters: best result — under 1%

The middle case being worst suggests the instant-fail-and-retry cycle runs faster against a blocked request than a real network round-trip — so generic ad-blocking alone isn't enough here; you need to stop the script's own attempt

Waiting for feedback Problem with Ublock Original 174 when working with Firefox 154.0.1

I have Firefox 154.0.1 I'm installing Ublcok Original version 174, and the browser is becoming unstable. Here's an example of how it works: I have a Twitch stream enabled + I go to a specific website = the website doesn't open + Twitch freezes (as if my internet connection is disconnected). I close the browser, and it crashes, forcing me to either quit it in the task manager or close it and restart it without saving my data.

For example, a link to Reddit often doesn't open. I click "Open Reddit," and it takes a long time to open. It all started with Firefox 154.0.1.

On Firefox version 154.0.1 and Ublcok Original 173 - no problems.

p.s I will also publish this in the Firefox section.

Answered how do i know ublock origin is doing its job?

Hey so i live by the phrase "if you don't own it, you cant steal it" and i wanted to check out some anime and on this one website i use on my phone it works great and wanted to see how it would handle on my pc. i open it and 3 redirects and 1 file starts downloading. i sh-t myself. i HOPEFULLY managed to remove the virus but im unsure, windows defender does say everything is safe, i deleted it in like less than a second, i searched all my files. but anyways
i decided its time for a ad blocker and i saw this one being very popular. i used edge / google (DONT HATE) and i saw the normal one was removed but the lite works. my question is how do i know it actually works? like yeah i didn't get any redirects or any files magically downloading but is there a chance that it is still happening in the background and i just don't see it??

I also wanted to add that i checked on one of those ad blocker test websites and it say almost 50 out of the 130 werent blocked, yet i didnt see any pop ups which makes me worry if theres some ad or malware in the background?
