Tuition/Aid 💰 FASFA Vent

I’ve seen that many other students are dealing with the same issue, and I’m honestly beyond frustrated.

I’m a graduate student who is supposed to graduate this semester. I’ve called Financial Aid more times than I can count, and I’m currently on hold with them as I type this. I even scheduled and attended an appointment with a financial aid advisor, yet as of today, I still do not have a financial aid package on file.

Financial Aid told me to contact Student Accounts to ask about my options while I wait. Student Accounts said I could enroll in a tuition deferment plan until my FAFSA aid is processed, but I would have to pay 50% of my tuition out of pocket. My other option was to withdraw my intent to graduate, drop my classes, and wait until next semester.

HUH?

I don’t have $4,000 sitting around, and I should not have to delay my graduation because of an issue that is completely outside of my control. If this is affecting so many students, why not acknowledge the problem and extend the tuition deadline by a week or two? Instead, we are being told to somehow come up with thousands of dollars or drop our classes. How is that a reasonable solution?

Financial Aid problem, not FAFSA. FAFSA does not provide money.

I did my undergrad at UCF and I’m now a grad student at FAU and I just want to say what the actual fuck?? If I were you, I would go in person to the financial aid office. They are playing with you rn.

I'm an undergrad but I dropped my classes. I knew I wasnt paying out of pocket and I was already on the fence as I have a toddler now but I was going to at least try...fafsa never came by semester beginning so I took it as a sign as frustrating as it is 😤

Dealing with the same situation as a grad student, I’m literally unemployed as well and I can’t even afford rent without these loans
