What's the transfer process look like? Is there anything they consider besides GPA and major?

Im majoring in sports management and wanting to transfer junior year from WSU. I'm a California resident so i'm not as worried about tuition. I have a school that's at the top of my transfer list but i'd rather prepare for the worst than expect the best it's also a $22,000 difference so...

What is considered for UCLA transfer admissions:

1) A minimum of 60 semester/90 quarter units by Spring prior to attending.
2) Having a competitive GPA, all General education and major prep required courses completed by Spring prior to matriculation.
3) Extra curricular activities such as Employment while attending school, Involvement in campus organizations and community service, Family responsibilities and Military services.
4) Personal insight essays which expand upon your choice of major and additional prompts to enhance your application.

Over 90% of admitted UCLA transfers attend a California Community college which get transfer priority and through assist.org have course articulation for transfer. OOS 4 year university transfers have the lowest priority for transfer. For 2026, UCLA had a 5.2% OOS transfer rate. If you want to transfer to UCLA, you are better off completing the transfer requirements at a California CC and if you are able to complete 30 semester/45 quarter units at a CCC prior to matriculation, you get CCC priority.

UCLA offers a Sports Management minor but not a major.
