I’m looking at a study abroad program for winter, but I’m worried about having somewhere to live when I come back.
Is it possible to sublet(through the official channels) for just winter quarter?
Can I sublet for just one quarter then move back in for spring quarter?
Will I have to move somewhere else when I come back?
I would appreciate input from anyone with experience in this. What happened with your on-campus housing when you went abroad for just one quarter?

If we can't physically obtain all the signatures, can they not just e-sign it in Adobe Acrobat or something and send it back to me? Or do they have to send me emailed approval instead (like what is in page 2 of the form)? I'm so confused by this
I have the dawg pack pass and for the Apple cup I got two guest tickets. Can the two guests enter the stadium without me (the account holder) or do I have to be present?

I hear such mixed reviews about pre med on reddit and I am wondering what the current consensus is. Half the people say it is extremley harsh with grading and a toxic enviornment that makes it difficult for most stem majors, I heard it is also hard to get a place in required stem classes?. The other half say it is one of the top science schools for a reason and they don't find it that cut throat. Please let me know what you all think or what your expereinces are.

Roommate is international student from China.
Is there a traditional welcome gift that would be appropriate? Or is that considered inappropriate/rude/unnecessary in that culture?
Hello!! I've seen occasional posts about people inquiring about how greek life is if you're gay/bisexual. I'm just here to say that you absolutely SHOULD rush, there's plenty of us in fraternities and sororities at UDub!
Personally, 1 am a bisexual woman in a sorority, and it's been a fantastic experience for me. My sorority and many others have lots of lesbians and bisexual women. If you're LGBTQ and thinking about joining a sorority I'd love to talk to you! Please don't hesitate to reach out.
For men who are interested in greek life: my best friend is gay and he joined Delts (Delta Tau Delta) last spring. He absolutely loves it! Generally Asigs, Chi Psi and Delts are the most diverse and accepting from my experience.
Personally I would say Delts is the best among them, I know multiple bisexual men there.
Best of luck to all you incoming freshman. You're going to have a great year! And go greek!!!

Hi, I'm a rising senior who's interested in applying to UDub. I've fallen in love with the campus and the marine biology program the school offers, but as a low income student, I won't be able to afford the school unless I get something close to a full ride. I have American citizenship but I don't know if that'll help much. Is there anyone here who was in a similar situation as me, and any advice?

So I’m entering my first year of CC, and was planning to transfer to UW for fall 2027 as public health major. I just saw that public health is only accepting for Winter 2027. I signed up for all my classes that are fit for Public health. Should I change my plan and apply for Winter 2027 public health directly, or can I apply for pre-sciences major instead and talk about my public health plan/interest in my essay?

I'm a freshman in 30 days and currently 19-credit-blocked from registering from CSE 123. My other three courses (+1 locked gen studies) are already completely full so I'm not particularly willing to risk dropping any of them.
Since I've observed the seats of CSE 123 (specifically section A, which is the only one I'm able to take) shuffling around due to dropping / re-adding over the past few weeks, I'd assumed it would be relatively safe to wait until the 19-credit limit is removed at the beginning of the quarter and try to register for it then during the chaos. Is my assumption correct?
I've also found a few quiz sections with only 10 spots total; since there isn't any FIG associated with CSE 123, I was wondering if these sections would open up at the beginning of the quarter or if they're reserved for another group.
edit: please don't bother commenting on the credit load, i've heard more than enough on it and i'm only concerned with my question.

uw sent an email about housing for 9-month residents and mentioned open room change being available today till 11:59 pm. where can i find it in the housing portal? I cannot find it and i’m not sure if i had to email them or if anyone else has the same problem or if it’s just me. please let me know 😞😞

Hey! Asking for a friend, the winter transfer application deadline says it's due by September 1st, does that mean by 11:59pm on September 1st (tmrw) or before that day? I'm assuming 11:59 tomorrow but we're both a little paranoid atm. No time is listed on the application portal and we don't want it to close before submitting.

felt like being a bit of a karen today, and with autumn quarter starting imminently i wanted to remind incoming and existing students that the only form of chalk allowed in the IMA is liquid chalk and that can ONLY BE USED IN THE CLIMBING CENTER. i know this seems like a weird hill to die on, but i absolutely hate the use of chalk in the gym, and have noticed an (albeit small) uptick in usage. the other day my foot slipped on some that was on the pendulum squat platform and i had to suddenly brace mid set in a way my knee hasn't forgiven me for. it also just doesnt come off stuff and is irritating to get on your clothes + people have allergies. thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Hi! For people who’ve taken PHYS 117, what is the lab attendance policy, do they allow drops at all?
Thanks :))

I was in a double room (west campus) but my roommate ended up switching to another room today on the 31st (which is the last day to switch rooms freely). how likely is it that another person will switch in? I’m really hoping to keep the room all to myself but i’m not sure if that is likely to happen.

I’m an incoming first year registered in PUBPOL 330 with Megan Butler. While I can find a good amount of info on the professor (she seems pretty cool!!), I can’t find anything on the class itself. If anyone has taken it before, what is the hw/exam structure and difficulty? I chose the class because of its relevance in my field, and I’m super excited, but I’m also taking it alongside ENG 121 and HISTAM 215 and I want to know what I’m up against :)

Hi all! I've looked around for a venue that suits our needs and have come up short. We're hosting an initial student org. meeting that is mostly gonna be for fun and getting to know each other, but we also do need ~15 mins to seriously talk about the real agenda for the upcoming year.
We're hoping to find a happy hour location/venue that has the following:
Any help would be appreciated. We don't have a huge budget for the year, so reserving a room for $300 isn't gonna cut it. All we've thought of is Ravenna Brewing? Thank you all in advance!

hello! I’m trying to start going to the gym. I’ve been more of a at home exercise person cause I get super self conscious.
I want to start using IMA as it’ll be my last year and I’m paying so much so why not just use it😭
- what will be the time usually during autumn that it’s mostly empty/slow?
- I read there are diff floors to the gym? Do you have any specific in mind for some newbie?
- I have tried a couple of strength training classes so I’ve used the machines a bit.
- do you have any Dos and donts?
Thanks!
