Never forget Prime Tuivasa gave Gane more trouble on the feet than Ngannou, Pereira, and Aspinall

If he won that fight he woulda been fighting Jones for the title btw

We coulda had the craziest timeline

17

u/yamchadestroyer 3h ago

That would've been a wild fight. Jones probably would've won but he sure would've put up a better fight than gane

18

u/Snelly1998 3h ago

Jon taps him out even quicker lol

Gane is bad on the ground, but Tai is even worse

8

u/yamchadestroyer 2h ago

He's a bit too fat for Jon to get a hold of 🤣

3

u/Snelly1998 1h ago

Fuck, didn't even think about that 😭😭

2

u/OtherwiseEnd944 2h ago

Doubt it. Gane is not only bad on the ground he performed horribly that fight. Assuming Tuivasa doesn't get stage fright and shit his pants he does better than Gane. Gane was starstruck or something that fight. That was the only 1st round finish Jones has had in the last 13 years and only his 2nd finish overall in the same span of time outside of the corpse of Stipe.

Gane was not starstruck, he got into the cage with the best MMA fighter of all time

Was he star struck when Francis wrestled him with one knee?

Jon beat him so bad everyone has to make excuses to make sense of it

And tuivasa is even worse on the ground

Gane was not starstruck, he got into the cage with the best MMA fighter of all time

He really was, he did exactly the wrong thing against a wrestler and played exactly into what Jon needed.

Love or hate Jon, he is not a quick finisher and never really was.

Gane isn't bad on the ground. He only had 3 years of MMA experience prior to fighting Jon Jones and 7 years of combat martial arts total. He started Muay thai in 2014 and then MMA in 2018 and fought jones in 2021. With only 7 years of combat experience, he was able to draw Tom in the first round despite Tom training BJJ since he was a little kid. Gane is arguably one of the biggest talents in MMA alongside with Joshua Van.

With less martial arts experience than Alex Pereira, he knocked him out and mixed the martial arts better than Pereira did.

I love Tui but seeing "Prime Tuivasa" made me chuckle lol.

19

u/Sea_Sheepherder_2234 That was super necessary 3h ago

It’s funny because he’s just entering his prime🄶

8

u/SukhdevR34 3h ago

He's one of the best eaters of all time

Prime Rib Tuivasa

ā€œPeople forget man, prime Tuivasa was a PROBLEMā€

14

u/shleepy_toki_V 3h ago

A5 Tuivasa w/ the marbling and tonnage

13

u/StreetTriple675 3h ago

Just how good was prime tuivasaĀ

9

u/EOVA94 3h ago

Is prime tuivasa with us in the room right now ?

7

u/SJBSJB02 3h ago

Are you saying he is no longer in his prime?

21

u/MoneyBaggSosa 3h ago

Ngannou was on one knee and still handed Gane an L idk why people keep tryna use that fight as a flex for Gane. And it’s not like he was fr whooping Toms ass either. He only really whooped Alex

8

u/GoyEater 1h ago

Gane lands literally 2 stiff jabs and mfers be like ā€œhe was peicing him up!ā€

-30

u/CrashtheKiller50 2h ago

Ngannou robbed him. Read the scoring criteria and you'll realize round 5 should've gone to Gane.

Also lol gane was whooping toms ass

18

u/One-Scientist-3103 2h ago

ā€œWhooping assā€ by being up by one (1) strike

-15

u/CrashtheKiller50 2h ago

Up by actually three strikes on paper but half of toms strikes hit air or landed on ganes guard. Many breakdowns of this fight. Gane was whooping that ass

12

u/Overall_Tour1948 2h ago

Not really fair to judge a fight off not even a single round imo. People did the same for Leon vs Belal 1 and had to eat crow after their rematch.

•

u/breezytrees32 6m ago

Why can't you just say you thought Gane was winning instead of disingenuously using the term "whooping ass"?

3

u/Sneezy6510 3h ago

Shit happens man, they’re fist fights.

3

u/oranikus 1h ago

Crazy how one frame in a fight is enough for people to think Gane was winning against Tom lol. And that’s before he cheated.

You know how fragile the blood vessels are in the nose? He didn’t break it , it just bled.

The fight itself was pretty competitive and Tom was picking up pace just before that eye poke happened. Shame.

Can’t wait for the rematch.

2

u/Spinning-Around 3h ago

Got one nice shot in and then he got beat the fuck up.

•

u/mecha_style 57m ago

Did anyone actualky watch that fight? Gane fell once and promptly got up and beat the ever loving SHIT out of Tai.

3

u/Melonballs__ 3h ago

Tuivasa had one fluke moment when Gane let his guard down

3

u/Rainstormsky 3h ago

Gane has evolved a LOT since those days, and especially since the Jones fight. This is a different fighter altogether, and probably what everyone thought Ngannou was going to face. This Gane is extremely dangerous, and can cheat at will

3

u/Overall_Tour1948 2h ago

Surely you haven't forgotten Gane absolutely bonking Tai to the back of the head during this fight? My man stays cheating.

1

u/No_Medium_8796 3h ago

This was pre jiu jitsu tattoo tuivasa

1

u/Sacabubu 3h ago

Gane wasn't locked in like he now. The version of Gane that fought Alex kills Tuivasa

1

u/Snelly1998 3h ago

We were so close to Tuivasa vs Jones for the belt

1

u/reputablesorcerer 2h ago

Prime ā€ribā€ Tuivasa

1

u/DocGrandma 1h ago

ngl, that fight was insane. Tai’s power is something else.

1

u/FreedomLoose7201 1h ago

Heartbreaking whenever you think an OP is posting something funny and they're just parroting the dumbest shit imaginable in the comments šŸ˜”

•

u/MrNixxxoN 37m ago

Tuivasa is just a large punching bag with a powerful right hook

•

u/Poet_of_Sordland 20m ago

Hard to say with Aspinal as he was blinded early.

Tuivasa didn't do that well though, he had a good moment but was mostly slapped around.

Pereira definitely. Prime Tuivasa v Pereira would have been a funny fight

•

u/Leaked_Shlong 10m ago

volkov gave him more trouble ngl

1

u/GuyEatsTiramisu 3h ago

Take your pills grandpa

1

u/Away_Lock4241 3h ago

I love tai but he didn't give gane any trouble he just landed a lucky shot after gane didn't reset properly

1

u/PersonalitySingle557 3h ago

Tuivasa was on quiet a run leading up to that fight and gane honestly has looked at a different level since his aspinall fight

0

u/Moist-Catch 3h ago

Not really he landed one shot that knocked Gane off balance that was about it

3

u/Jadevit 3h ago

You haven't seen the fight then lol. That was not just knocking him off balance, he got dropped. I just watched it.

2

u/drakan80 2h ago

Pretty sure Gane even said he was on auto mode after it

0

u/Moist-Catch 1h ago

Watch how he responds to the follow up shots then. He's clearly not as hurt as people think because he's able to effectively block and evade every shot get the clinch and get to his feet. That is not what would happen if he was rocked

1

u/Overall_Tour1948 1h ago

Check out the post-fight interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsqLXqrg2YI Gane claims he was flash-knocked out.

0

u/seonblack 2h ago

Tuivasa was actually very good once upon a time. He just needs a better corner and better conditioning and he would thrive again in HW division.

-20

u/CrashtheKiller50 3h ago

Gane is top 3 strikers in ufc history. Argue with a wall. He turned Francis ā€œI robbed Ciryl Ganeā€ Ngannou into a wrestler, outstruck and put Alex ā€œ2 division glory championā€ Pereira to sleep, and outstruck Tom ā€œFans used to think I was the greatest fighter in historyā€ aspinall.

Only lost to motivated jon Jones. For those that don't know there is a huge difference between motivated Jon Jones and normal Jon Jones. Motivated Jon Jones was rarely seen in most of his ufc career. Jon knew he had to lock in to beat gane.

Also gane destroys dc.

u/pants_pants420 Fake Account 3h ago

-6

u/TheGoodVibes13 3h ago

Sounds like a grounded take to me

1

u/pants_pants420 Fake Account 3h ago

that gane is top 3 strikers in history? hell no

maybe top 3 in hw history

12

u/mat477 3h ago

Gane is top 3 in HISTORY and your whole post is about how Tuivasa fucked him up?

https://giphy.com/gifs/3o6ZtokgzQv6ThHzj2

-2

u/CrashtheKiller50 3h ago

Just like motivated Jones prime Tuivasa was rarely seen in the octagon but in his prime he was a great striker

8

u/sock_therapy 3h ago

He's one of the best strikers at heavyweight right now but top 3 in UFC history? What kind of drugs are you smoking?

-4

u/DragonFangGangBang 3h ago edited 1h ago

I mean, who else would beat him on the feet in MMA?

Cro Cop maybe? Rico Verhoven?

Edit: oooooooooh, he said of all time like of all weight-classes??? Nah, homies smoking crack šŸ˜‚

-7

u/CrashtheKiller50 3h ago

He destroys mr ā€œI only throw two strikes per roundā€ mvp and max ā€œI block punches with my faceā€ holloway

3

u/No_Development_4939 3h ago

Do you have a list for all these names?

4

u/44dqm 3h ago

hes not on the level of conor, topuria, izzy, max, wonderboy, silva, etc.

0

u/SukhdevR34 3h ago edited 3h ago

Max and Ilia don't have great kicks, Gane has amazing kicks.

1

u/44dqm 3h ago

max has an awesome spinning back kick, and ilias leg kick is a big part of his striking. thats kinda one of the reasons he was able to beat max.

1

u/SukhdevR34 3h ago

Oh yeah you're right the spinning kick he landed on Gaethje was amazing, but apart from that I'm not sure

1

u/44dqm 3h ago

he throws that kick a lot, not just in the gaethje fight.

0

u/CrashtheKiller50 3h ago

Max is a shit striker to be honest lol. No striking defense and very mediocre kicks. Izzy is a worse pereira. Gane is better than them both.

-1

u/EduardoCamavingaFan 2h ago

Tbf he objectively beats everyone you named

1

u/44dqm 1h ago

maybe cuz hes a heavyweight and most of the people i named are lightweights lol

5

u/Clay_Allison_44 3h ago

Oh no! Your bullshit narrative! What happened to it?

-2

u/CrashtheKiller50 3h ago

That was an injured and unmotivated gane in the rematch lmao. Gane destroyed volkov in their first fight

3

u/Clay_Allison_44 3h ago

Volkov is a decent fighter who may never get a single title shot. The Greatest Striker Of All Time doesn't put up that performance against that guy.

Gane would probably win the trilogy, but that's not the point. Gane is an inconsistent choke artist who has put up bad performances and made stupid mistakes in fights he should have dominated given his talent.

-2

u/SukhdevR34 3h ago

He beats an injured Gane in a razor close fight great. When aspinall gets injured he loses ro blaydes lol.

3

u/44dqm 3h ago

gane destroys dc is objectively false, he simply doesn’t have the grappling to nullify dc’s wrestling. francis took him down and held him dc would sub him.

4

u/JustinSane79 3h ago

Give the guy some credit. Gane can totally destroy DC’s eyes with his scissorhands.

0

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

DC was doing it before Gane, are you sure he has the advantage there?

1

u/CrashtheKiller50 3h ago

Bro said dc would sub him lmao. I have better bjj than fat boy dc

-1

u/Distinct-Broccoli-15 3h ago

Your hyperbole will annoy people but it is true that Cormier had overrated finishing ability on the ground. I think he can impose his grappling better than Gane can keep the fight standing so I would have to choose Cormier to win a fight but if Gane had spent more of his career working with Riner and a few other grapplers I would honestly favour him in a fight.

1

u/4_13_20 3h ago

Francis had 1 knee and still beat him lol. Aspinall fight was close and we were robbed of seeing its conclusion by notorious cheater Gane knucklefucking his eye sockets.

Gane is maybe in the top 3 heavyweight strikers oat but saying in "UFC history" is fucking nuts. He isnt even a top 3 CURRENT striker in the promotion.

1

u/44dqm 3h ago

while i agree with you, who are the top 3 best strikers rn? maybe max, ilia, and van? maybe gaethje? oh forgot about yan too hes def up there

2

u/4_13_20 2h ago

I think you could make a case for anyone you just named being above Gane, I would also add Prates to that list, Ruffy is also excellent and seems to still be improving
