Mindblown
I just spent the last 5 days binge-watching Veronica Mars and being fully straight up where the hell was this my entire life.
When I started it I assumed it was just another CW high school drama with mediocre writing. My god how wrong I was and how happy I was to be wrong.
Maybe it's recency bias but let me just say that I don't think I've ever seen a show which has the best of the best tropes, amazing acting, brilliant characters and writing that takes the audience seriously.
Every single character on this show feels fleshed out and real, and Veronica is such a great protagonist. A female protagonist that is real in every way that matters she's got grit and strength and all that but she's also angry and vindictive and is so so bad at expressing herself. The show never shies away from letting their characters being flawed and I truly think there is nothing better than that.
The mystery is there and the mystery is great but truly the way they let the characters being is the best thing about the show. And nobody embodies that better than Logan. Logan is such a brilliant character because he is the perfect tortured rich bad boy but Jason Dohring makes him so real. His expressions are so understated so subtle but there is no doubt what logan feels in any scene in the show. Every single fuckign scene he was in you couldn't look away. Man insane. When I read that they never even planned on having him as a romantic interest and did it purely because of the way him and Kristen Bell interacted - like that's brilliant. That's so amazing.
Truly a shame that the show was cancelled. Season 3 truly suffered from the rating pressure
But man o man was the first season the best tv I've seen in a while.
I just have so many thoughts and I was so invested I haven't been this invested in a show in forever. I took a sick day just to watch the show. What an absolutely incredibly experience.
