Came here to say the same thing. I love the original two, but it would be nice to have an updated version just for the spectacle alone.

There's a demo for a spiritual successor on steam called Parasite Mutant. It's pretty good too!

100%. Not even like a complete remake (though that still would be cool), just a good remaster and port, with some graphical improvements, to modern systems and PC

Try out Wicked Seed if you haven't, it's a great game inspired by Parasite Eve. You play as a sexy lady which I admit was the reason I tried it out lol but it turned out surprisingly fun

I think this game would be perfect for a remake. The gameplay itself has aged poorly but the concepts is so good.

Because every time they want to make a new game with that IP they need a new license and split part of their profits with the author of the books.

The first game is a direct sequel to a Japanese horror novel by Hideaki Sena. Different setting, different protagonist, but at a few points in the game it makes vague mention of events that happened in the past in Japan and that's what it's referring to.

The book was also adapted into a film and a manga in Japan.

I guess i was in my early 20s when the game came out and didnt care much for books at the time. Now I read much more than game, so maybe I'll check it out.
