Bloodborne

61

u/Skelligean Jul 29 '26

It would print money. I don't understand why they don't do this for Bloodborne. At least a 60 fps patch.

68

u/PrincipalDevlin Jul 29 '26

I'm convinced that it's Sony's secret weapon. When public perception hits an all time low, and they fear that the PS6 sales won't meet expectations...bam. Suddenly Bloodborne 2 / Bloodborne remastered gets a teaser dropped.

My gaming conspiracy theory :P

16

u/freezersnowcone Jul 29 '26

Just remember, From Software is the one holding that one back, not Sony

5

u/Mao_TheDong Jul 29 '26

Explain how, fromsoft doesn’t have access to the IP

8

u/Crusaderofthots420 Jul 29 '26

Sony wants FromSoft's permission regardless, probably to keep good faith for future dealings, but FromSoft doesn't want different studios doing the remaster, but they are also too busy with other projects to do it themselves.

1

u/Black_rekna Jul 30 '26

Exactly. After Sony's screw up with Demon's Souls release, messing with FromSoft's masterpiece would probably ruin their relationship beyond repair

1

u/jbasta93 Jul 30 '26

Well. That would also make it line up well with my waiting for ps6 launch argument. And why Sony hasn’t done anything with it in this gen.

21

u/TacoBOTT Jul 29 '26

I’m with you on this. When Companies come out with good ideas, they don’t just release them all at once.

7

u/toodamcrazy Jul 29 '26

Lol, it will be a ps6 exclusive blah

5

u/MrRonski16 Jul 29 '26

I think fromsoftware is a bit protective about the IP. Sure Sony owns it but it would hurt the relationship.

Fromsoftware probably wants to do it themselves.

3

u/AlexTheGoat990 Jul 29 '26

Fromsoftware probably wants to do it themselves.

Makes perfect sense why it never received a PS5 patch or any performance fixes in general then

4

u/MrMiguelito Jul 29 '26

Does that mean we get a flash release today?
Sony's on a bad decision streak right now so it'd be the perfect time (to get a last PS exclusive and GTFO).

3

u/DetailedManx Jul 29 '26

Actually sony tried pushing for a remaster, but fromsoft declined the idea completely

3

u/IamHunterish Jul 29 '26

Sony wants to do it, they already said they want it. FromSoft is the one holding it back and doesn't want to let a other studio do it probably because they get jealous for how insanely good Demon Souls looked.

1

u/Roger_Clyde Jul 29 '26

I have seen people put out longer lists about what was fundementally wrong with the "Demon's Souls" remake than most school essays I've ever written. From the artstyle, animations, sound effects to white-washed and downright incorrect character designs compared to the original, as well as redesigns that straight-up ignore or discard the original game's lore, Bluepoint misunderstood the original game's story and artstyle on such a level that it is considered by many to be a disgrace. And this was FromSoftware's first game of the genre. "Bloodborne" is a project that is very near and dear to Miyazaki, so seeing how this turned out, I find it perfectly understandable why he wouldn't trust them with it.

Also, what have they got to be jealous of? They made "Elden Ring", one of the most beautiful games in recent times!

3

u/timbofay Jul 29 '26

Yeah I've seen a lot of those. There's some merit but fundamentally you are just not being sincere or honest if you deny that the fundamental rendering, lighting and material fidelity is years ahead of anything fromsofts engine can put out. Art direction aside, the fidelity improvements DO make a difference

2

u/Roger_Clyde Jul 29 '26

Fair enough, my second point does not hold up, but art direction is still an integral aspect, especially for FromSoft. You can make a graphical masterpiece by all means, but there is a reason why a certain character looks the way they do, or why this area has this much fog or why the sky is a certain colour.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd rather not have a studio, whose Remake of a game, graphically impressive though it is, misunderstands and misrepresents so much of the original game they were remaking, remake one of the most important entries in FromSoft's repertoire, whose art direction is so beloved and unique.

3

u/timbofay Jul 29 '26

Yeah don't get me wrong I do agree with you ultimately. Because artistic intent is really important especially for remakes for classic games like this. As that becomes the new norm that future audiences will see the game through most likely.

Not saying you specifically but a lot of discussion around bluepoint always felt a bit heavy handed or not nuanced

3

u/IamHunterish Jul 29 '26

Let’s be honest, you get your opinion and lore from YouTubers.

1

u/Roger_Clyde Jul 29 '26

I get my opinions from a combination of my own experiences, observing communities attached to these games, conversing with friends who are very passionate about them and listening to other very passionate people talk about things they love for hours on end. YouTube is only one medium through which I consume information and even there, it is through multiple sources.

2

u/IamHunterish Jul 29 '26

Elden Ring, most beautiful? How even? Demon Souls remake looks way better than it just like many other games. I’m sorry but graphically Elden Ring isn’t very impressive.

1

u/jbasta93 Jul 30 '26

You are thinking in terms of fidelity my guy, not art style. You can turn up the dial on said fidelity all you want, but if the art you are “heightening up”, is crap. Fidelity isn’t going to do much. Elden rings landscapes are literal paintings, overlooking everywhere you are able to go to. God that games universe is beautiful.

1

u/IamHunterish Jul 30 '26

Well he didn’t specifically mention art style now did he? Fidelity is something you can actually measure, art style you cannot, it’s personal taste. And while I think the art style of ER is pretty good, saying it’s the best is stretching it, but then again, that’s my opinion.

1

u/Roger_Clyde Jul 29 '26

Doesn't need to be impressive to be beautiful. ER's artstyle genuinely is beautiful. I can speak for that at least, I have read better arguments from more knowledgeable people against the changes in "Demon's Souls'" artstyle. At any rate, ER's character design looks incomparably better compared to the Uncanny Valley that are DeS characters.

1

u/jbasta93 Jul 30 '26

While I get those people’s complaints about the des remake, as I’d be pissed if bloodborne was messed with in a similar way. I gotta say man, I do love that remake, and a lot of the criticisms are annoyingly bad faith, I honestly stopped watching a certain YouTuber because of it, he said in the end of his caddy, bad faith video “your wrong, and if you don’t like it then unsubscribe”. So I did lol. I mean have your criticisms and opinions, but to literally shit on anyone who doesn’t agree with you because you are in your feelings is nuts.

1

u/Roger_Clyde Jul 30 '26

Completely valid.

2

u/lightl420 Jul 29 '26

Well it’s cuz of fromsoft, Sony actually had bluepoint ready to do a remaster but From said no

2

u/jbasta93 Jul 29 '26

Yeah that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. Pretty sure they are going to use it for the ps6 launch. We will see I guess

2

u/JesusLickedMe Jul 29 '26

Can you stfu and not give m any ideas? I dont wanna buy Playstations anymore😭

1

u/Mysterious-Rate-3253 Jul 29 '26

Right? If anything that can force me to buy another PlayStation, it’s Bloodborne Remake 😭

1

u/flamethrower78 Jul 29 '26

Fromsoft has publicly stated they want to be the ones to do anything with bloodborne and not hand the reigns to anyone else. Sony owns the rights but is respecting From's decision to keep the relationship in good standing. It's completely on them to make the decision to revisit bloodborne in any capacity. Really wish they would...

1

u/Spirited_Radio_1214 Jul 31 '26

They better get it ready then. My explanation : sony won't do anything "for the players" in the future, they totally gone wild since 2024.

10

u/Joeliosis Jul 29 '26

I think it's the only Fromsoftware not on pc right? They'd make sooooooooooooooooo much money if they released it for pc. I know there's a workaround that is heavily fucky, but it's basically the only 'Souls' game I would pay full price for.

11

u/MazerBakir Jul 29 '26

Demon's Souls is also not on PC. They are both owned by Sony so the blame is on them. Sony has decided to stop porting their games to PC as well so it's unlikely. Despite the positive reception it also didn't sell as well as some of their other exclusives which is part of the reason why it never got a sequel. The lower sales and being older is also probably why it never got ported to PC.

3

u/DoughnutLost6904 Jul 29 '26

No, the blame is specifically on FS, at least with BB, they're the ones who denied a remake

2

u/Adaphion Jul 29 '26

They got positive reception, but to the surprise of no one, they sold like hot cakes, which is a bad thing for Sony.

Because if they can't lord exclusives over people's heads, there is nothing keeping people in their ecosystem.

1

u/YueOrigin Jul 29 '26

Honestly i'm even more sad about Demon Soul...

Just give us the basic version so we can mod it at least ffs

2

u/jamz3001 Jul 29 '26

Demon's Souls and all of their old catalogue isn't on pc

1

u/CubingGiraffe Jul 29 '26

As someone who just did it a few days ago, the hardest part is making sure you have the Bloodborne game and patch files. Everything else has been solved by the modding and open source community.

1

u/TrustLordJesusChrist Jul 29 '26

Yeah a fan made a patch by himself but only works on modded PlayStations or via emulator on PC. If one guy can make a patch surely it could be done extremely easily. PS5 would have that thing pinned at 60 fps with no drops.

1

u/GhsotyPanda Jul 29 '26

I believe it's been stated somewhere that Sony wants it remade and FromSoft is happy for it to be remade but doesn't want it to be remade by someone other than them while also not being willing to prioritize it over new/ongoing projects, so it just sits in limbo.

1

u/DarkDestiny51104 Jul 29 '26

Exactly this, i'd rather have no remake/remaster than Sony co-developing it

1

u/Alarmed-Tell1315 Jul 29 '26

They have Bluepoint game studio to do it, imagine a Bloodborn remake made by the same people that did the Demon Souls Remake… I’m convinced it’s intentional as well.

2

u/beaner_king Jul 29 '26

Bluepoint no longer exists unfortunately and i believe that it’s the reason why we’re never getting bloodborne remastered or a legitimate pc port

1

u/Alarmed-Tell1315 28d ago

I didn’t know they shut them down this year. What a crime.

1

u/BeanserSoyze Jul 29 '26

I think it's gonna be the PS6 launch title like demons was for PS5

1

u/VergingRivals Jul 29 '26

Sony Japan was shut down

1

u/DarkDestiny51104 Jul 29 '26

Basically Sony want a hand in development while fromsoft wants to do 100% of the work, fromsoft then said they're not doing it, I think its more that Sony wants to keep the rights and have absolute say on the IP but ofc they could implement MTA's and Hike the price to 70/80$ with no physical disc available, with all that in mind I think its better this way. Also Emulation for bb is pretty good by now if you play on pc

1

u/Daniel_P_77 Jul 29 '26

Company politics

1

u/Lower_Pension_2469 Jul 29 '26

I would buy it full price with a 60fps patch. I don't even care if they updated the graphics.

1

u/SinglePlayerGamer93 Jul 29 '26

Agreed. Unless Sony finally removes their heads out their asses and finally remaster bloodborne or at least update it to 60fps, I'm not holding my breath.

1

u/rokstedy83 Jul 29 '26

And release on pc

1

u/Spirited_Radio_1214 Jul 29 '26

OG version still holds up well.

1

u/vitium Jul 29 '26

Right? People in here talking about this game like it came out in the 80's. The game is hardly 10yrs old.

1

u/karatous1234 Jul 29 '26

Yes but it's locked to the PS4. It's basically in hardware jail, and doesn't emulate well.

1

u/WaveBreakerT Jul 29 '26

Yeah a remaster really only needs 60fps and some qol updates but the game is still 100% playable as it is.

1

u/skyguy_22 Jul 29 '26

Especially, if they make it not PlayStation exclusive anymore!

1

u/Ok_Chemistry6851 Jul 29 '26

Is this a sign for me to boot up my ps4 and play bloodborne? (I have the physical disc still film wrapped since half a decade.)

1

u/noisemonsters Jul 29 '26

YES. Love yourself enough.

1

u/segadorxl Jul 29 '26

I had to scroll a lot to find this comment! Bloodborne is such a masterpiece and a great introduction to the souls games

1

u/Lukatron_72 Jul 29 '26

It's insane Bloodborne is just sitting at Sony collecting dust.

They need to do minimal work to it to resell millions of copies
