That game still holds up pretty well these days.

Strangely the first one yes, the second age poorly. Some details got lost or Heller is just more polite that Mercer...

Yeah, I really liked the idea of the villain being the guy you've built up into a demigod from the first game, but it just didn't hit the mark.

In my opinion it missed the mark mainly cause the good ending was canon but then Mercer becomes evil offscreen for like no reason.

Power corrupts.

They had a great premise, just not the best execution.

Half the problem was that evil turn happens off screen.

The other half of the problem is he doesn't have any depth to him beyond "evil" in the game. He's just a mustache twirling bad guy going muhuhhahahahaha every time he appears.

Made worse by Heller also not having any mystery properly tied to him.

so you can play it on the PS3 or a computer running windows 7, otherwise the game is not playable. I build a Windows 7 machine just to play prototype and it needs a ton of mods to be playable by modern standards.

It's also very much playable on Xbox Series X, as well as I'd assume the older generations starting with its release console.

I got 1 and 2 for the ps4 and they were great. The first one is still heaps better. But both good games and very playable.

Fucking amazing man, this game was a huge part of my childhood

2

u/AgentVert Jul 30 '26

Childhood... Not sure if that a good thing it's have the adult cote where I live so no avertissement we have to ask for it, it was hidden behind the desk.

The moment you find out that Alex Mercer is actually the virus, one of the best moments in gaming.

I'm glad to see it's this high up. First thing that popped in my mind. Such a good game for it's time!

I personally would prefer a sequel. Purposeless Rabbitholes made a video about what a new Prototype would look like, it's really cool.

Xbox just sitting on the Prototype rights for no reason put those games on everything and make a 3rd one

Microsoft just buy right to avoid people making game to compete with them. They aren't good themselves they just stop other. EA did do the same with many Star Wars Battlefront copy by many original developers.

Have both on my Xbox, still a fun sandbox to play.

Hell YEAH!

I'd pre-order the fuck out of it if it was a remake that is true to the source material!

1

u/AgentVert Aug 01 '26

Never pre-order it's as risky to give someone you don't know money and hope it's gonna be back.

2

u/ThunderCookie23 Aug 01 '26

I don't generally pre order games. Was just showing my excitement if a prototype remake does happen
