Does the Simpsons Hit and Run count?

I would buy a remastered version in a heartbeat!

I think its charm is in the blocky graphics. Though i would kill for more missions and side quests.

And fix that one Apu mission where you have to drive from one side of the town to the other with a timer. No-one can beat that except with cheats probably.

I had beat it ONCE and that was because I spent hours trying to best finding every short cut I could

I've beat it. I have never beaten the last mission even with all of the hints and tricks people talk about. Once just once I got the last barrel of toxic waste to the ship and into the tractor beam. Do you know that the time doesn't stop while it's ascending? And it takes about 10 seconds to go up?  I quit after that.

Man alive.

There are… men alive in here

I happened to watch a speed run of hit and run the other week. When driving, if you press the button to look backwards it well despawn all the cats in front of you for a few seconds giving you a better path.

Repressed gaming memory unlocked. Just like this and the goddamn nes lion King game. We all know the one.

That car was more dangerous than the night shift at the Kwik E Mart

I’ve always beaten after a couple of tries I didn’t realize people thought it was impossible.

u/CthulhusSoreTentacle Jul 29 '26

What mission is that? I recently replayed Hit and Run and completed it without any real difficulty.

3

u/HarlesD Jul 29 '26

I wonder if because Apu is a playable character in the game it'll never get a remaster

3

u/Iri5hgpd Jul 29 '26

I beat it, mind you it took me hours to do. And alot of blood, sweat and controllers (seriously I smashed one to shit out of sheer frustration)

3

u/LoverOfRandom Jul 29 '26

It’s hard but also doable.

3

u/Mista_DontPlay420 Jul 29 '26

That one and the one against Comic Book Guy was a bitch too

3

u/Puttanas Jul 30 '26

I beat it several times. Only broke one controller in the process.

3

u/Feeling-Influence691 Jul 31 '26

Truly the mark of a professional to have only broken one. I admire your restraint

3

u/Saemika Jul 31 '26

I beat it as a kid. I recently went back to replay it and…. I’m too old for that shit.

Apu was «cancelled» years ago, so a remake would definitely not involve his character. Let the game be, I say. Remakes with modernisation of certain cultural aspects is a hit and miss approach that might or might not ruin both memories and parts of older games.

4

u/oyvese Jul 29 '26

this post and the comment chain you’re a part of are specifically talking about a remaster

3

u/Anxious_Specific_165 Jul 29 '26

I see, thanks for pointing that out. Even then, would they allow Apu to exist unchanged in a remaster?

5

u/oyvese Jul 29 '26

hard to say.

on one hand they’re clearly distancing themselves entirely from apu as a character but a remaster is just an old game and they likely still are involved with selling old simpsons dvds which have apu.

they’d probably have a warning about how they represent characters, or something.

3

u/ShadowStrider_7 Jul 29 '26

As someone who has not kept up with current happenings, might I inquire as to why Apu is being distanced/cancelled?

4

u/RoddyUsher Jul 29 '26

One guy got upset by it and wrote an op-ed. This was around 2020.

So now the well-mannered, intelligent, patient, family man character has been removed from the show

3

u/This_Cancel1373 Jul 29 '26

You can probably guess

3

u/Icy-Horror-495 Jul 29 '26

Because the Indian guy looked and sounded Indian?

3

u/This_Cancel1373 Jul 29 '26

Because it was probably offensive to someone lol

2

u/LoverOfRandom Jul 29 '26

There’s always gonna be people who are offended over anything.

Cancel culture

3

u/shifty18 Jul 29 '26

No one will ever truly cancel apu

Modernization
