Was not a fan of the chases and races in Spiderman - same dev. They seem to love em

Spider-Man kinda made sense as a big focus was utilizing the very unique and well done traversal mechanics.

I mean wouldn’t it be a little disappointing if you had the iconic and extremely well-done web swinging mechanic and all you used it for was going from mission to mission?

As for here, this chase sequence was like 15 seconds and lead to a fight…. Idk why people are getting so worked up about it.

The problem is that you can't catch the enemy until he reaches the scripted destination

Correct, just make it a cut scene.

r/videogames, where people want less game in their 70 dollar game

An on the rails, no condition to ever winning, scripted chase scene is not more "game". It's a cut scene that they pretend you're in control of.

It’s interactive, it literally is more game. Being able to control the game as much as possible is a key part of game design.

It seems the problem people have here is they have a problem with being told what to do for a brief time in their game. You aren’t meant to win, same as a scripted loss in a fight. It’s a narrative tool, just take it for what it is and don’t expect something crazy during a transitional sequence.

Brother you literally just need to hold the left stick up lmao 🤣. There's no interactivity whatsoever in sequences like this.

Stupid take for 2 reasons-

1- it is definitionally interactive… if it requires input to… you know… INTERACT with the game, its interactive. Doesn’t matter how seemingly minuscule

2- a chase sequence is NOT “just holding the left stick up”… that would be a shimmy sequence or some sort of axis-locked movement like sliding something or going up a ladder. If all you’re doing is holding the left stick forward then no wonder you hate chase sequences, you probably suck ass at them.

Any opportunity to add interactivity should be taken, and chase sequences, when done well, is exactly that. People are getting their shit all boiled because of a literal FIFTEEN SECOND chase sequence… and it was to showcase the traversal mechanics.

You sound like the type of gamer who just bitches at anything they can find and hates anything new. Sounds kinda miserable.

1) is skipping a cut-scene interactive as well?

2) no? That's literally what this chase scene is lol. You can even see the moment Logan rubberbanded back because this doesn't reward you in anyway whatsoever.

3) Ah yes, the traversed mechanic of holding the left stick up. You're an actual troll

Nah. For example car chases can be done fast and they are not scripted.

Chase after Electro is not scripted either.

yeah because it's easy "content"

And it hides loading screens for bigger fights or environments

There just isn't a lot of room for expression. I'm fine with turning my brain off for a little canned action, but you definitely stop feeling like the character and more like you're watching someone play the character.

It's in the old pre-insomniac spiderman games too. But at least swinging is fun.

In the Ultimate Spiderman game for ps2, there were some great races with The Human Torch.

I thought the Black Cat chase in the DLC was fun, the rest meh.

I mean, it at least made in-universe sense to have Spider-Man chase people through the city buildings. It doesn’t, at all, make sense to have Wolverine do the same thing.

My kid loved the game and played each of them twice over. I pre ordered Wolverine anyway just because I’m a long time fan

Shall see how it is on launch I guess

Insomniac is one of the most overrated AAA devs working atm, Spiderman 2018 was good then everything after that was a big step down. We'll see how this turns out.
