Welcome to reddit.

Eh, this actually does look kinda bad tho. The rest of the game could be perfect and I’d still say this chasing sequence is odd lol

Cool but people are acting like this is the entire game. A mission that most likely constitutes 1% of what you’ll be doing in the course of this game = garbage running simulator slop in these people’s minds. It’s actually ridiculous.

i am not taking anythign in this thread seriously you idiots are crying as hard as you can over a person running

Seriously it's ridiculous. I hope they have the same complaints when GTA6 makes you do a boring chase sequence.

Anything is miserable if you like the thing and others really don't. Welcome to life.

it is miserable to be so upset over a 30 second chase.

I think it's pretty reasonable to be critical over a linear, scripted chase with a glowing red line showing you where to go. If you want to defend this, go right ahead, but calling the people criticizing this as "miserable" and "upset" without providing valid repudiation of said criticism is a weak ad hominem

I bet u loved the eavesdropping missions in Assassins Creed too lmaoo this was one the worst clips they could’ve put out - who enjoys chase missions that are scripted so u can’t actually catch the guy till the game decides u sat there long enough and can catch them now

i haven’t play assassins creed, wouldn’t know

Fr bro every comment saying this looks terrible, its literally a 30 second clip from a 10 hour+ game

god forbid people have opinions

Yeah, what’s with all the hate? I think this could still be dope. We’re looking at what? A few seconds of likely dozens of hours of gameplay?

Yeah, but these few seconds are exceptionally bad, i dont expect something of this poor of a quality get into a modern big budget game, and the gameplay we got a couple nonths back was also very uninspiring, so i understand the overwhelmingly negative response this clip got

To call this chase sequence “exceptionally bad” tells me that you’ve never played an exceptionally bad game before. This is mediocre at worst. I get using hyperbole but you guys really need to cool your jets if you think this quality is the worst thing you’ve ever seen.

it’s a 30 second chase sequence, i don’t know of any chase sequence that inspired me to want to play a game because it looked so good.

this thread is literally the first time i’ve heard anyone complain about this game so far, im blown away. and i’ve been allllll over coverage for this game

Well you see, first thing to remember is that Reddit is an echo chamber of the most ridiculous takes on the most minuscule of details related to anything. Nothing that the majority cares enough to publicly outcry over in a significant manner. Especially for games and even more so when it comes to anything Insomniac drops.

Insomniac games is basically public enemy number 1 on Reddit. Puddles, spider-man suits, spider-man story, eyebrows, faces, suit regen, chase sequences. Whatever you can you name about a title they’ve released, it’s been complained about to death. You’d think Insomniac Games personally took a dump on every gamers hopes and dreams

The game looks like ass to a lot of people. It’s fine if it doesn’t to a large group of other people

So making a chase section that could very easily just be a cutscene that transitions to gameplay, is tolerable to you? Genuinely curious because I don’t see any purpose in this. The outcome is predetermined, either you chase them or you fail the mission.

u/spazzxxcc12 19d ago

is every chase section in a game intolerable? when nathan drake is chasing through the streets, being drug behind a jeep and you’re controlling him, is that intolerable? like why don’t we just end the level before that. or are you guys so starved for non stop action in your tik tok brains that a 30 second chase sequence is really putting you over the edge.

Adding a walking section or chase section is just a cheap way to add game time because otherwise the game would be way shorter.

I also don’t see where the attention span argument comes from considering cutscenes are a direct test of your attention span.

Almost every chase section with a predetermined outcome can be made into a cutscene.

So every chase sequence is trash? Should every game with chase sequences be discounted because of them?

u/Human_Muscle_8023 18d ago

To put it in laymans terms, they’re okay if they’re engaging or if failing them changes the game without leading to a mission failure.

is every chase section in a game intolerable?

Yes. Next question please.
