New Ratchet & Clank is good, but even that series has been watered down since the PS2 and PS3 games. Yes the graphics are better and the gameplay is tighter etc. but the stories in those games used to be genuinely interesting with unique satirical dialogue, now it's just the most sanitised quippy writing in all "kid's" media. The music used to be this electro-future-funk fusion, felt tailor made for the game with each planet having it's own sound, now they just have big orchestral scores. Shit even the UI lacks the originality of the older games
I do feel like the story was pretty forgettable, but overall it just felt like they did a good job following the formula and making something just straight fun to play.
It was kinda a breath of fresh air to play a game that doesn't take itself too seriously again, it's been awhile.
