Honestly, Dead Space kinda felt like this to me. I just couldn’t find a reason to replace the laser cutter. It’s awesome

Dead space has other guns? I beat it three times.

Bruh the contact beam is just a better plasma cutter (in the remake. Original it's a pocket nuke). Force gun is the best gun in the series and the ripper is just fun as hell.

The new dead space they all serve a purpose, especially with the flesh system (I think it’s called). Some are used to peel away tissue making the plasma cutter cop them in one shot rather than 4-5

I mean, thats cool but due to the game only giving you ammo for guns that are currently in your inventory, you can just stuff any gun you get in storage and obliterate everything with 20 stacks of plasma cutter ammo

Pretty sure thats what I did for Dead Space 2 for Hardcore mode. I also kept a Plasma Rifle just for its grenade launcher secondary fire as a last resort

Is that what the game does? I keep getting 100 creds from every loot, I was getting supremely disappointed with wasting ammo on any crates.

Peeling system

The force gun went from "tried it once and thrown directly in the bin" in the OG DS, to "Fuck yes time to blow the skin off a necromorph again" with the Flesh system in the remake haha

At least it makes earning the One Gun achievement a fun challenge. And it isn't perfect against everything, it struggles against enemies that attack in large groups like the Swarmers or Divider and the wall-mounted Guardians.

Man that makes me think of Resistance: Fall of Man.

You got a few military guns, plus alien weaponry. They all did different things, and would highlight that when you first get the new weapon. But after, you just have to figure it out/play your way.

That is definitely one of my favorite guns ever since the OG days. Powerful as hell and really fun and visually appealing

i played through the remake, and i agree. the only two guns i used throughout my whole playthrough were the cutter and i used the flamethrower for some enemy type that would get stunlocked by the flame wall shot

cutter is GOATED

same for me, except I also carried the ripper, found it extremely useful in tight areas and against the hunter.

I got the platinum trophy for that game, indeed, while other weapons are rarer and sometimes more fun to use, nothing is more effective than the plasma cutter

If you are talking about pulse rifle, do remember that bullets don't really hurt necromorphs, as we can see in Downfall, that's why a basically gun that is supposed to crack stones is better

In the first game, I agree. I started using other weapons in the second game though. There's some really fun ones in the arsenal, especially the Line Gun and the Ripper.

I was actually disappointed when I get a literal military space rifle.

they give an achievement for only using the laser cutter and i was like "what, like its hard?"

Dead Space Cutter and Bioshock Pistol are probably the two best "just use all your upgrades on them to make the game easy mode" examples of the last 15? years

Ammo was the reason to use different weapons
