Discussion / Question The Best Kept Marketing Secret of GTA VI.

I think the biggest surprise of GTA VI is going to be the reveal of Online 2P Story Mode Co-Op. Hear me out.

GTA SA had it, iirc as a free-roam feature. Rudimentary and Limited but implemented nonetheless. I do not think it has been done since. We know how R\* works. They flesh out these years old mechanics and implement in future games where it narratively makes sense. GTA VI seems like the culmination of over 2 decades of work. This is the perfect opportunity for such a mechanic to really work.

• Several areas in the Extended Look were cut where there was no need to, if it is just single player.
• Forbes has released a report saying, ‘GTAVI Online’ is not expected for 1-2 years.
• Rockstar themselves have also said that in this game they have focused more on variety and replayability.
• The Relationship and Crime Report Mechanics.
• Their core audience(the ones who were there since the beginning )are now 30 years+ and this might be their last GTA for a while (blame adulting)
• The World of Leonida has become more grounded. You cannot move around the city like a god, they said.

Instead of causing chaos in the city, 2 player campaign and open world will provide the opportunity to bring that chaos to the living room. Now, tell me that doesn’t sound like GTA.

•Throw in Cross-Platform player matching

Local Co-Op at this scale, is difficult. But Online, ooh i can see so many possibilities.

What are your thoughts ?

This is advertised as a single player game on all the online stores.

If there was coop they would be promoting it like hell. It's a money making feature they won't keep as a surprise.

When it releases on PC maybe someone can make a mod for it, but that's about it.

Would be a fun little surprise, but I don’t think it would work with the structure of the game shown in the extended look.

That Forbes report was an opinion piece, not an actual news piece. It’s basically just speculation held up by observations and assertions. It’s not meant to be, and shouldn’t be, taken as gospel.

That's what I was just thinking about earlier. All kinds of people I know in real life and online mention how couch co op is a serious huge part of gaming that is sorely missed and depressing that it got lost along the way. Me and my gf are so excited for the release and if it has couch co-op it could be an incredible way to bond in a way I haven't been able to yet. I genuinely don't understand why they wouldn't make that possible. I under the whole legs squeeze every last dollar bill they can but I got my fingers crossed.

Firstly, if it can only 30fps, then there ain’t no way it’s rendering two player split screen.

Also, we got a 26 minute preview. If 2 player was gonna be in the game, we’d have been told during that.

You are setting yourself up for disappointment here. It’s a single player campaign.

Online coop, not split screen

okay maybe i worded it wrong. I am not thinking about 2 player split screen. that is definitely impossible on any gen hardware for a world as complex as this to be rendered well.

I am thinking more in terms of 2P Online. Wherein, 2 Players -> 2 Consoles -> 2 Games -> One Session -> Jason or Lucia -> P2P -> no split screen

more like GTA Online's Invite Only session with just 2 players. i do not think that that is impossible, because we already have it.

I still think it would’ve been announced if it was happening.

Yeah. Just speculating on what could make GTAVI a once in decade game.

It already will be.

It already is. Anyway, consider me eternally curious of Game Mechanics.
