Discussion / Question Question specificity about the GTA 6 reveal.

Based just on what RS recently released, are you more exited about GTA 6? Or less, or even just not interested.

I’ll go first. Id say im less excited. I’ve only ever dabbled in the franchise but love all sorts of games and am always up for trying out something new. My main gripe is that Jason seemed like he had no personality. He just came off sort of flat. Kinda concerning since these games are so story driven. Maybe they are just holding back? Hopefully more is released before the game launches.

I was a hater just due to the price tag alone. That being said I will be getting this game. The preview sealed the deal.

I hate how nowadays a more chill character isn’t possible in gaming same for games in general. For some reason everything has to special and over the top but more “monotone” characters get labeled boring instantly.

Agreed, same people would probably call Marston or Morgan from red dead "boring" from the trailer nowadys...you cant know everything about a character from a few lines of dialogue

I don’t think this game will be your kind of game.

I want to be excited for it but so far I’m a bit skeptical. Also bothers me how RS is as a company but that’s a whole other conversation 😂

If you aren’t convinced after the preview, 2 trailers, screenshots and all the info we’re getting from interviews, I don’t think this is the game for you.

I’m not gonna write the game off but will probably not get it day 1, which is a bummer for me. Really enjoy when new games come out.

There will be 100s of hours of character development in this game. I'm super glad that the 26 minute trailer did not even attempt to tell us what makes these characters tick.

So many times, games (movies, shows, etcetera) will go out of their way to drive home a character's singular personality type. This is the funny guy. He tells jokes all of the time. This is the grumpy guy. He's always angry. It's tired, man.

Rockstar's characters are a fine wine. They take time to develop and they do a great job of bringing the player into that development.

As such, I am definitely more excited after seeing the trailer though a bit more nervous with the 30fps.

Good point about the fps I forgot about that 😅

I feel like everything else about the game will make it worth adjusting. The same way RDR2 did. But I'm really hoping the PS5 Pro has a 40fps performance mode.

RS proved itself with RDR2 and character build, acting, etc. I'd hold judgement for now.

But I know exactly what you mean about him being kinda monotone and boring in the little bits we saw.

yea i’m going to hold off on judgement just because this is the same thing people said about arthur morgan, “i don’t want to play as him where’s john” in a lot of those earlier rdr2 trailers

I saw enough to know that this will be a more serious, less arcade-like version of GTA. I'm sure some people will hate that but I am excited.

And graphically, I'm blown away by what they've done here.

FWIW Dan Houser left when RDR2 released.

Not interested personally, it looks like it'll be a very good game for people who are fans of that kind of thing, but not my kind of game.

As someone who played all GTA games on pc and liked most of them, i will buy it day 1 (when it releases on PC) and try it myself in order to form an opinion instead of giving one based on videos/commentaries/reviews. If i don't like it i can refund it (unless i can get it pirated, which im probably gonna use as some sort of a DEMO), if i like it i won't be mad about spending money on it. After all no commentary, reviewer, redditor knows what i want from a game or how i would play it.

More excited, but I do agree that I found Jason’s voice acting to be underwhelming.

I kinda liked Jason. Seemed like a (somewhat) realistic portrayal of an introvert (speaking from my own experiences as being one). I have a cooler sounding voice though.

I’d be keen to see how big the map is and what diversity it offers but the 2 main characters just don’t interest me in the slightest, therefore, the game holds no draw for me either.
GTA6 could reasonably be the last GTA I’ll see in my lifetime as I’m 52 now, so GTA7 will probably be out when I’m 107!!

I feel about the same.

I'm not buying this game at the price tag they want no matter what.

Beyond that, the biggest reason I don't feel any different after the trailer is because they didn't answer any of the questions I had about this game's gameplay, specifically the inclusion of a performance mode. I won't be playing this game at all if it's locked to 30 FPS.

If it has a performance mode and reviews well I planned to eventually get it on sale at some point.

Visually, the game looks incredible, there also seems to be a lot of attention to detail put into NPCs routines and all that, but I'm just as interested as I was before, which is not at all, I like games that are full of weird stuff, this game's just too normal.

Water cooler game for dads who "used to play video games all the time back in the day!" They're gonna do random things in the open world, get killed by cops a few times, share stories with their friends about "this one guy I saw online" who did some crazy stunts, then they'll go back to talking about sports and weather.

I was so excited I reloaded gtaV just to feel alive. Then I was reminded we can’t invert the Y-axis and I deleted it again. So now I’m just waiting to hear whether we can invert the Y-axis before I buy.

Would say the trailer basically just "met expectations" for me. Which is "excited but gonna try really hard to wait for PC release" (which oot remake will make that easier)

I haven’t been interested in a long time.

2

u/wizard_tiddy 4h ago

Why not?

$80-100 price tag, digital only release, not a lot of information prior to leaks, Rockstar’s union busting, etc.

Not interested at all. Just more crime sim boredom. I grew out of GTA after GTA 2.

I need to put this in my clipboard as many times as I've posted this answer.

It's the same shitty game they've been selling g us since GTA III came out 25 years ago. Same tired mission structure, same shitty combat, same shitty driving physics, and the same edgelord content meant to drive PR by being "controversial ". It's just prettier.

My excitement went from a 0 to a 1.
