I bought a singer 500a that came with a top carrying case a few years back and I've been looking for the matching bottom case. The first 2 photos show what the bottom carrying case should look like.

I bought a bottom case of ebay and, unlike photo 1 where there is extra space at the front of the base, it only just fits the sewing machine. I'm 99.9% sure that it's not a perfect fit because the bed cushion orientation (pic 5) does not match the holes in the bottom case.

Does anybody here know where I can source the Singer 500a bottom carrying case? I've already scoped out ebay, etsy, and stores like central michigan sewing supply and I still have yet to find it.

This machine is on marketplace for 50 bucks, Ive been thinking about getting one to eventually practise projects i want to do for jerseys

Is this a good one to buy?

Hello, I'm finding myself in a precarious financial situation , and am considering selling my 15-91 Centennial in the dark #42 cabinet. It is a beautiful thing, I truly hate to sell, but I have to take care of my mom. Also has accessories, built in foot pedal, and the cabinet support is fully functional. It has been serviced and is fully functional. I don't know if I can bring myself to part with it, but if I had to, what general ballpark range would be fair to charge?

My dad bought this old sewing machine years ago for 50 euros as a decoration. He now wants to sell it since it is taking up too much space.

I checked the serial number and it is from 1922. Now he wants to know if this is worth anything more than the 50 euros he gave for it.

My dad bought me this machine at a yard sale ten years ago. It is my favorite color and he knew I always wanted to learn to sew. I always felt like there was going to be too much of a learning curve for me to ever make anything I would actually enjoy using/wearing and sadly, used this (it’s in a cabinet) as a nightstand for years.
I decided to finally stop scrolling on all of the sewing subreddits/reels/TikTok’s etc and actually try to learn to sew. As a gift to myself for my 40th birthday, I got this machine fixed and serviced and I’m very excited to share that I have finished my first project, a scrunchie lol, that I absolutely will use!
Thank you to everyone who shares on this subreddit for inspiring me to finally use this machine. I wish I had done this while my dad was still here, but it’s better than never having used it.

Hi all, I have a beautiful sphinx Singer 15-90 that I picked up the other day.

When inspecting, the motors base and bracket bakelite crumbled so I'll be needing a new motor.

As far as I can tell, it looks like I'll need a motor with a K bracket. This machine was missing a foot pedal as well, so I don't mind getting a newer pedal/motor combo. Saftey first.

The current light connects to the motor for power. Is it standard for aftermarket lights to accommodate power for lights, or should I use a separate plug for the light? I can't find any info online.

If the light should grab power separately, I'm not sure what kind of things I need to order: male two prong plug, probably soldering connectors, wiring to increase the length and heat shrink?

I've fixed up machines but this is my first diligent effort into electrical! Thanks so much for your help!

This past weekend I bought a sewing table with a built in 120.49 kenmore sewing machine for my mother. It works perfectly even the little light except it didn't come with the pedal. I can't seem to find what the pedal looks like or anywhere I can get a pedal replacement without the websites looking sketchy. Would any of yall know where I can find the pedal at? Or any of the kenmore sewing machine models that are similar enough to replace the pedal with? any advice would be appreciated!

I got a new (to me) singer 15-31 recently and it came with the original clutch motor. I took the clutch off and am trying to attach a servo motor. The problem is that most of the digital servo motors don't seem to fit on the underside of the table. The clutch motor sat to the right of the machine with the pully on the left side.

The servo I got has the pully on the right side as it would be mounted under the table. If I want to align it with the machine's drive wheel the servo would have to be mounted under the tray that the machine sits in.

Maybe I just need a different servo.

I've been playing with my new Rocketeer, and I have a question about the tension. The pictures are two layers of muslin, size 12 needle, upper tension set at 4. Maroon on top, orange in the bobbin. Does it look ok or should I change something? Thank you!

Midi dress, v neck but not low-cut, with interesting 3/4 to long sleeves, maybe flutter or bell. Does anyone know of anything that fits? I can do some altering if I can find something close enough. Everything I am seeing is very low-cut or not empire waist!

My heart is absolutely set on making one of these gorgeous gowns but I'm a beginner and I have no clue how to make this work! I've spent hours researching the elements that go into this. Correct me if I've got it wrong, but so far I've learned that these are Gunne Sax or Victorian-inspired dress, and they typically have gathered "prairie" or "tiered" skirts and "cuffed", "bishop", or "peasant" sleeves. I was able to find some tutorials and instructions on how to make these.

The part that I'm stuck on is the top with the sheer tulle/lace yoke. I figure I can gather some tulle and lace in a sort of square shape to make the ruffled collar... But how do I make the top underneath?

I'd prefer free patterns/instructions if possible, I'm on a tight budget and shopping in the thrift store bedding/curtain section for materials already </3

I also don't want this to read as a bridal dress. I want it to look more like a casual gown (Victorian style of course) and I want to wear it out on regular days to be extra fancy. I want to inspire folks to wear whatever makes them happy! I've noticed that bridal gowns typically have lots of floral lace appliques, bead embroidery, and shiny fabrics like satin, so I'm staying away from those. I'm thinking a basic cotton bedsheet base with plain tulle on top and simple lace trims? Any and all tips/advice are greatly appreciated!!

The title says it all, I got my grandma's sewing machine after my uncle died and the machine was in bad shape. I took three days to completely disassemble it, clean it, and assemble again. There are, however, pieces that just have too much rust and one or two missing.

It's a Singer Model 15 NL with the serial number NL-K 8240122

I know that it's a Taiwan reproduction of the model 15 and is basically worthless from a price point of view, but it was my grandma's machine.

The question here is, how should I proceed to buy the missing pieces? Are there other Singer models that are compatible with this one?

I was thinking of finding the same machine on marketplace (I'd dissassemble it completely and have the pieces if I need it), but it seems like I'll be trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I'm missing the metal plate that hides the bobbin mechanism, the bobbin and it's metal wrapping and ideally a new foot (the one I have has rust).

My brother surprised me with this beautiful rotary sewing machine in its original wooden carrying case with all the supplies. It's in perfect condition except it didn't have a foot pedal and the plug was the old prong-looking thing. I have an engineer friend who actually used his 3D printer to make a component for the plug to set into, changed the cords for the light and motor. I ordered a universal foot pedal and block for the light and the motor from Central Michigan Sewing Supplies. Chris at CMSS was so helpful in guiding me with what I needed, and I am happy to say that this old gal (the machine, except I'm old too, lol) is up and running and has beautiful stitch quality. She went through 6 thicknesses of upholstery as if it were butter. I am thrilled to have such great resources as my engineer friend, this Reddit site, and of course CMSS. Everything always ships out fast, and I have found many vintage parts there. I have officially added her to my collection of vintage sewing machines. I named her Florence Josephine!

I know nothing about this machine. I got it my senior year of highschool from my great uncle. Now that I have moved into my own apartment and have the space for it I'm hoping to get it up and running. I would appreciate as much information that I can find. The serial number is H 463021 I looked at the singer database and that would put it around 1906. The base of the machine is still at my grandma's house as we plan on how to get it up the stairs to my apartment.

I found this machine in its disintegrating box about 8 years ago, cleaned it up, amd set it aside. I recently pulled it out of storage and was considering restoring it but I have more questions than answers. The serial number is very clear and I've looked up the year and the model (1909, model 27). The issue I have with this is that it looks identical to the sphinx model but the filigree decals were used instead of the Egyptian style ones. Is it possible it was manufactured this way? I've not found another like it in this model so before I restore it would like opinions on whether I should use the same style decals or not.

So I just picked up a vintage Necchi BU Mira but it is missing any power cord or foot/knee controller. I am pretty handy with a soldering iron, so I am thinking of installing a female Singer receptacle so I can use the same power cord/foot pedal as my other machines (15 and 201). Any reason why this wouldn’t work?

Hello hello. Today i visited a factory that was closing down and i found and bought this old singer model for next to nothing. The first thing i did before buying it was find the model and serial number, then search online for a manual and what year the machine is from.

I haven't read the whole manual yet, but i figure itnshould have all the info on threading the needles and such?

This is my first ever propper sewing machine restoration project and i'm mostly looking for any good references or advice on how to go on about it.

The machine seems to be pretty complete save for the motor, table, pedal and belt.

Any advice on this particular machine, or any general advice on restoring machines is greatly appreciated.

Im pretty new to the hobby but am looking into getting a machine to take with me to uni. Previously I was using a new home Ja 1518 made in Taiwan which worked well but was unable to see anything thicker then two layers of denims which is a problem cause denim is mainly what i do. I was wondering what other beginner friendly powerful machines would fit my criteria? I’ve mostly been looking on Facebook marketplace but I’m new to the app and having so issues finding a good fit. I have an old treadle, approximately from 1932 I inherited from my granny. I want to sew a new backpack, but the knowledge on how to use this machine disappeared together with the female population of my house and no matter how much I search the internet, I cannot find a tutorial on how to thread it. The best I could do was clean it, oil it, make a new belt and make it run smoothly.

Can someone please teach me? And if possible, please provide visual aid. I'm kinda "McStupid" when it comes to sewing machines and if you just tell me "do x and x" I'm afraid I won't understand ^^;

PS please pardon the sand and fuzz on the machine, apparently my cat likes to sleep there XD

I inherited a Bernina 730 Record in beautiful condition. With it, there's a piece of wood with brackets and what looks like a pivot point. The handbook mentions "wooden support" in the list of standard equipment but gives no indication as to what it's for. Any ideas?
