Virtual touch keyboard

How would I go and add a keyboard that can pop up when I touch the screen? I have a spare tablet I'm trying to fully utilize for my toddler as a TV. This tablet is with very poor specs and I want to have this tablet with a keyboard for login and be able to do whatever all by screen without the use of a physical keyboard.

Void has a number of onscreen virtual keyboards in its repository. I'm not 100% sure what you mean when you say you are setting it up as a tv for your toddler. i would turn off the window manager to automatically boot into vlc with downloaded videos. no keyboard needed.

in answer to your question about onscreen virtual keyboards, there are at least these and maybe some others in Void's package repo:

  • caribou
  • maliit
  • onboard
  • xvkbd

Thank you for the answer, greatly appreciate it you're a real one. When I first attempted all this myself, I was trying to look at Google results and the AI fed me the result of having all these extra steps just to install a virtual onscreen keyboard. I didn't think to consider that there would be packages being listed and void maybe still particularly niche for having the packages, so that's a total error on my part. But I mainly followed what Google was showing me and it wasn't looking very simple. Until now thankfully from your response, I'll be trying this.

And to be specific when I meant as a TV, just trying to play YouTube videos or any kid friendly sites that hosts content of cartoons nothing more than that.
