Getting a paint job
I never thought I would do this but my friend says he will paint my 2013 187K miles Volt for $1300. This includes door jams if I chose a different color. He is good too so I know I will get a quality paint job. I haven't driven it much lately. My last drive yielded 10.1 kwH.
Since Jan 19 2013 I have only paid for tires, gas, wipers, oil.
I get SHVCS every day since covid and I just use by ODB2 twice per day to clear it.
It just rides so damn good.
I'm thinking I will paint it ride or black.
Couple years ago I already painted the black accents.

I took mine into a dealership and they updated my drivetrain which got rid of the SHVCS for only around $600. Sure, they ripped me off a bit but I was just glad to get rid of the error.

I hope it sticks Brother. Since covid I've had to do it roughly 2 times per day and so roughly 2500 times.
It literally, no exaggeration, takes 11 seconds max each time. That comes to 7 hours of my life in 5 years. I would prefer keeping my $600 and keep doing what I've been doing.

I was doing the same thing for two years until it caused me to fail my California emissions test. At that time, I installed the bypass. Five years later I'd still be clearing it if not for the emissions test.

How permanent is the bypass? I heard there was something you could get done at the stealer ship but it goes back to SHVCS. What year is yours? I gotta say though if I win the big lottery it's California here I come.

The bypass is permanent. If I remember correctly, the bypass circumvents a coolant level sensor that frequently goes bad. You can replace that sensor but it often recurs. I have a 2014.

I love those rims. Honestly it looks good as-is!
Check your coolant levels in both tanks.
If you need to add coolant for the battery the locking collar pulls out of the way easily.

I've heard that the Voltage app and Wireless OBD-2 dongle, can clear the SHVCS error codes. Buuuuuut I don't know if that's really true. I added coolant to my Gen-1 2015 and had to clear the codes a few times (with my old wired OBD scan tool) after a couple of drives, maybe cleared the codes once or twice and then the SHVCS codes haven't come back.

It's not peeling but the clear coat is rough. Go with white! Most visible, reflects most UV.

Is the volt in the picture yours before the paint job? Looks pretty good to me I would just leave it as is. If it’s the after photo of a different volt it looks pretty tight.
