I’m looking for comparisons between surf gates systems and tabs systems relative to their surf wave production, pros and cons of each, and other things to consider. It’d be especially to hear from people who have experience with both.

What I’ve gathered:
Surf gates: Horizontal tabs. Forces the boat to track slightly sideways to delay the wake convergence. Malibu and Axis. Stays level laterally. Less sensitive to weight distribution (passenger movement). Maybe less fuel efficient.

Surf tabs: Vertical tabs. Lifts the stern on the deployed side, causing the boat to lean or roll toward the opposite (surfing) side to produce the surf wave. Pretty much every other brand - Mastercraft, Centurion and Supreme (Nautique is a hybrid), Supra and Moomba, Tige and ATX. Doesn’t stay as level laterally, but the wave is more adjustable. More sensitive to weight distribution.
Lift created from tabs works against ballast.

My issue is that people that do quality comparison videos seem biased due to selling a certain brand. BoardCo is biased toward centurion. Taylor’s Boats is biased toward Malibu. Both produce good videos. This is the article I found most useful but again it’s BoardCo so I assume bias.

I am just getting into cable wakeboarding (I’ve only visited the wake park three times), but this is something I can see myself pursuing as a weekend hobby.

The park provides rentals for all the equipment—vest, helmet, and pro board—but I was wondering if I should invest in my own equipment this early on. The rental equipment has been alright, but I’m a bit on the skinny/slim side, so I find the vests and helmets a little uncomfortable and big for me. So far, though, they’re still manageable.

I wonder if having my own equipment that fits me better would help with my progress in the sport.

Just got a brand new nv243 2026 never had a surf boat before I surf on the left side does anyone who has a boat have the best wave settings when I’m doing it the wave is super washed over the top.

This a good first wake board for behind the boat?
Rough idea what these are worth?

Which one would you go with? Same price and same miles. 2021 centurion fi21 or 2023 supreme s220?

Starting to relearn tantrums in my mid 30s after a decade of not doing them. Taking some decent falls, but seem to have plateaued in my progression over the last few sessions.

I’m out of commission for the next few weeks due to a pretty nasty fall that ended up bruising some ribs, but I’m hoping to get any advice so that I can stomp these on my next session out! I’m curious what you guys might see that could help, very open to feedback!

I am looking to buy my first wakeboard. I grew up waterskiing but never had the opportunity to wakeboard. I found this board on marketplace and am considering buying it to get started. Is this a good deal? Anything I should look out for?

For reference I am approx. 5’10” and 175lbs and will only be using with boat

We have a 2005 Mastercraft X2 and looking to upgrade to a new (or newer) 22-23 foot boat that is still solid for wakeboarding (my son and I both ride) but also adds good surf capability (which our X2 does not have). We don’t need a “pro” wake for either sport. We are looking for a great reliable family boat that also produces a quality wake. This will likely be our last family ski boat and plan to keep it for at least 10 years. Similar to our current use, we expect to spend about 50% of our time cruising, swimming and tubing, 25% wakeboarding, and 25% surfing. We typically have 4 adults and 2-3 growing boys with us. Rarely would we have more than 8 people on board. We have been putting about 30 hours/yr on our boat on average, so not heavy use.

Looking at Moomba Max, Moomba Craz, MB B52 Classic, Supra SA400 (or similar), Nautique GS22, etc. For Moomba or MB we could buy new (but still open to used). For the Supra/Nautique we would have to go used.

Our local Supra/Moomba dealer has a 2026 Moomba Max for about $125k and Craz for about $115k, both very well equipped.

Between the Max and Craz, what do you think is a better fit for us? Appreciate the input!

[Update: test drove a 2023 Axis T220 yesterday. The lack of rear locker storage and significant bow rise / attitude at surf speed was a deal breaker. Wife was uncomfortable, could barely see out front. My fear about Malibu surf system has been confirmed.]

I hate to do one of these posts but I need some help and driving myself insane

Done 3 sessions at the local Wakeboard cable park. Snowboarded for over 20 years, so it's great to do with my lads in summer. I can learn away from the snowboard holidays and hopefully there will be some overlap. I ride a Betaleon Whatever for what it's worth for reference.

I have been looking at the Hyperlite Bloodline and Guara 2026 and Pleaseure 2025. I have hit some small jumps, want to progress more, when snowboarding I like mountain freestyle, pressing, jumps etc, so similar in Wakeboarding.

Any guidance would be great, I was thinking bloodline but would it be too aggressive for my level? For any help with sizing I'm a male, 5ft 9 and usually weigh between 12-13 stone

Hey guys, I’m trying to find the best wakeboarding boat under 150hp as thats the limit on a specific lake here in Portugal. So far I’ve found the bayliner 175 flight series but I find the wake very small for jumps and heard the engine is always having problems. Any help/tips would be great, thanks

Any one have any insight on weight of gear. I feel like my setup is crazy heavy, specifically when wet. I ride cable on a Ronix kentic 156, Hyperlite system bindings, with freepress boots. I just feel like my setup is crazy heavy. Any recommendations? Any gear that is lighter? Next board will be a 153ish, to downsize there, but maybe in the boots area any super light weight boots (when wet)? Cheers.

New to the Seattle/Bellevue area and looking to get out on the water! My wife and I relocated here from Orlando and would love to find some wakeboarders or wakeskaters to ride with. Wakeskater by trade so boat setup is not anything I’m picky about, would just be happy to get a pull before the season ends.

So I‘ve been wakeboarding at the cablepark for about 2 months now after I finally nailed the 360 over the kicker today and can reliably land it I‘m wondering what my next goal should be, I was honestly thinking It would take me more time to learn the 360 and it was kind of a goal I was working towards. In the end it only took me 3 sessions from my first try to landing it reliably.

What should my next trick goal be? Thought about a tantrum over the kicker but I‘m pretty scared about that ngl, how would I even work towards that. The learning curve towards the 360 was pretty straight forward. Same problem with the raley, you can’t really take small steps towards it

2 months ago i tear my anlkes ligaments up and i didnt ride since then. i was riding behind the boat and my father didnt slow down on rollers or they called doubled ups.

my ankle is getting better( i can run now and stuff) but im scared to do anything.

so if anyone who maybe knows or had the same thing can tell me wat to do next?

Hi friends. I recently did an oil change on my Malibu 23 LSV and figured I’d do a step by step on the process. The newer generation engines are so easy to change the oil on! While my boat has the M5DI, this same process applies to the M6DI and LT4, except they use a different grade oil.

Hi Yall. I purchased these about a year ago.. The ones I set it and forget it underneath my seats and under the rear storage are still fine. no leakage no nothing.. But I have 6 of these out on the seadeck. These 6 bags we actively move around to get the best wake.

All these 6s are heavily rusted.. Literally the entire bottom is brown.. My Seadeck is stained as well..

I am getting a new boat either this year or early next year, I dont want this to happen to my new boat.

Is there any real TRUE rust proof bags? i dont mind paying a little extra..

Of course.. I looked up real lead cost... if i want a big block shaped. its about 3-4 bucks a pound.. thats pretty expensive to get 800 lbs of these..
