Just quit
Call me an asshole but I’ve been stuck at Walmart for 2 1/2 years and was only planning to be there for half a year. My job consisted of my managers being up my ass about the silliest things and constantly having them take their anger out on me because they got yelled at by higher ups. Now I have a job that pays more and I quit the day I started onboarding. No 2-week notice. They wouldn’t give me a 2 week notice if they fired me so I don’t feel the slightest bad about it at all. I have a family that needs me to make money and I’ve been working paycheck to paycheck for the last 2 1/2 years. I constantly licked their boot to at least get a higher position or at the least a fucking raise. I’m glad I’m gone.

I have management experience, a tech degree - I applied to Walmart at one point in my life because I fell on hard times. The only position offered to me was stocking overnight (id be damned if I was gonna embarass myself by working during the day).
stayed long enough to purchase another vehicle, maybe 3 or 4 months. I am pretty sure it is the worst place ive ever worked. From Leads, to Management to the expectations it is all a joke. Not to mention I was more accomplished than most of their "senior management" and I was only 31.
Anyways - I left and doubled my pay rate, nice office environment, etc.
Walmart is only a stepping stone unless you strive to be management there. Do yourself a favor and use it to get to where you are going - this should not be an end destination for anyone with even a little ambition.

The college degree program is actually pretty awesome. I can't believe there are so many not taking advantage of it. Bust your butt for 4 years to do school and work, but then so many more opportunities will be available.

Also ON Stocking. Worked the same at Target. This is a catastrophe on more levels than I have the energy to enumerate (just about to go to bed after my most recent shift) and like the comment before mine, I only took the job because of unfortunate circumstances and am going to give my 14 days notice as soon as my start date with the higher paying job I just accepted is given after my preliminary onboarding. I was truly disappointed by how inefficient Walmart is. I am a career Retail/Distribution/Warehousing professional, having worked at all levels, and this is the worst I’ve seen. Even if the job I am supposed to get were to go sideways, I would still leave and never come back.

They do the exact same shit to me and so do my coworkers. They sit around all day talking to each other and hate me because I call out their lazy bullshit which is considered "drama"

I learned some things while working at Walmart. Seeing everyone slack off and taking 2 lunches a day, and nobody cared.
So I started “using the bathroom” multiple times a day. Or I’d go sit on a bench (when I was cart collector) being a cashier sucked tho because I was in front of all management and nonstop work.

Oh I love "using the bathroom". "Stealing time from Walmart" is such a joke. You couldnt "steal" ENOUGH time from them..

I'm 61 years old The one thing that I've learned over many years is that these multi million dollar owned big box stores and alike act like they care about their employees you may get a free turkey on Thanksgiving and a free pack of cookies in the break room which they write off as a donation for tax exemptions. Not to mention the other hundred ways that they can do things to avoid paying high taxes and better pay. And all reality they really don't care about the employees at all. In reality we are just a piece of equipment. Just like the cash registers and the forklifts.

Worst management of any place in my 13+ years of work, easily - no contest. To be a Lead/Manager at Walmart or Sam's you have to be a brainless vassal that doesn't value anybody as a human and only see them as a sack of meat to exploit. I Can't imagine how bad it has gotten now.

100% True. I've worked at separate departments throughout MANY Wal-Marts and Sam's Clubs and I truly had a single team lead that was actually a decent human.

I just want to know WHY we just accept $15 an hour when every Walmart in the country probably makes at least a million in profit every single day of the week. It's slavery, especially knowing products including Walmarts very own are underweighted, and most workers shop at their place of employment. And the point system too. I come in when I'm sick, when I havent eaten in 4 days and force every step I take, when Ive only slept 8hrs in 4 days, when my mental health is at rock bottom and can barely keep my composure.. I EARN every single minute of ppto, but you're telling me I can't USE all of it? Why do we just deal with it ??

I am in the process of being rehired after about 8 years. Had a rough time in my life and now I am actually facing being homeless unless I start making some kind of money. Walmart gave me the job offer withen 24 hours of putting in the app. Hate to say it but Walmart is saving my behind right now.

For me it’s like a 6 minute drive and my truck is always shutting off now when idle. So it’s the only place local to me that I can get hired on and make a living 😭
I live in the rural Midwest. Surrounded by corn fields and we have our super Walmart. Sucks

Me lmfao. I got sent home last Christmas because I was sick and I would’ve pointed out. Store manager was a bitch taking about “why are you getting close to me” and I asked if they could clock me out and they were like “you could do it yourself”
I was really really sick and still went in.
I told them about the points and it was “well you should’ve been watching your points”
So I was like okay, clocked out on a computer and went home.
My coach said you can comeback whenever you feel better take as many days as you want and I’ll remove all your points back to zero.
After store manager experience I decided never to return. They finally “fired me” in February.
But, now I have reapplied 😭

I'm wanting to quit, but I'm paid much higher that minimum wage and the benefits are great. Find me a work from home job that pays better and I will.
