Automotive changes

I am trying to make sure I'm understanding this correctly.

  1. They're taking automotive and hardware and splitting the department's back apart.

  2. They're taking the team lead / department manager from inside and forcing them back out into the shop...

  3. And then they're making the department ran by just the sales for associate with no manager overhead.. ( the team lead / department manager). And no additional pay with more responsibilities

Am I understanding that correctly?

Kinda... both team leads will be covering both the shop and the sales floor. More focus is going into the shop because the shop makes a lot more money than the salesfloor if run properly, and accident costs are kept down. The salesfloor will not just be run by the sales floor associate.

As the "salesfloor" automotive TL who spends anywhere from 50-100% of any given shift in the shop anyway, I'm thrilled with this change. With just 1 salesfloor associate who gets pulled to OPD and seasonal the majority of their shifts, I simply cannot keep up with 3 departments while herding cats in the shop. My current co-TL helps on the floor a lot more than the previous one, but even his time is limited because we're down 2 techs right now and aren't allowed to hire any more.

I have to say I've never agreed with the fact the counter associates have a huge list of responsibilities; answer phone calls, look up and order tires for customers, returns, zone, topstock, freight, pin points, price changes all while still running the register yet they make the same amount of pay that a door host or a cashier up front makes.

I also don't agree that the 20 year associate or more is making the exact same amount does everyone else in the store.

The floor tl stays on the floor and the shop tl stays in the shop. In theory the acc coach will also be required to stay in the auto department but I've heard such has been attempted in the past with mixed results.

There won't be a floor TL anymore. Both ACC TLs will share the shop and few aisles on the floor, and both will be expected to spend the majority of their time in the shop.

This is what would make sense but this is not what I've been told

So since this is what makes sense this is probably not what's happening LOL
