Current WIP terrain for 1490 Doom, Trench Crusade.

Still got a few trench pieces to finish up.

Slowly, but surely...

About an hour an evening, bit by bit.

One tank nearly done, one terrain piece nearly done.

"Here kitty, kitty, kitty!"

Plastic Soldier Company 1/72nd scale Sherman Vc and one of Dave Graffam's World War Ruin models.

Lessons learned, ideas for improvements.

I just need to finish off the Shermans, a few more houses and the Revell Tiger Ausf. H. and we're off! 😁

Going to play "Cobra Kings" from the FoW second edition catalogue to ease me in.

Outside the Wire TTRPG, live on Kickstarter

Post image
1 Upvotes

Want to create a leader to take a team into a modern war setting? check out Outside the Wire is about leading a team (squad-size) through high-risk counterinsurgency operations with constant moral ambiguity. We devised a 2d10 operations system for action resolution and built a robust, fully realized solo-play mode driven by flowsheets, Oracle, and Sunlight Clock (a pressure system) for GM-less missions. Inspired by classic 1980s wargames, it emphasizes tactical realism and consequences, where a squad's decisions directly alter the living ecosystem of a dynamic 12-week deployment. When you take out a sniper, it might reduce the insurgency but also reduce local trust (since the sniper was a local farmer...) We included a sandbox generator to develop fictional settings, and also included background on recent real-world events. The deluxe campaign, shown, is in the fictional Walat region.

This new Spanish modern combat game comes with a really cool starter set.

21 miniatures: 12 irregular fighters and 12 professional soldiers.

1 rulebook.

Scenery to get games going quickly.

6 ten-sided dice.

I’ve just finished reading the rules in French.

The game is available in French, English and Spanish.

I can’t wait to play my first game; I’ve just finished assembling the miniatures.

Work In Progress Super-Simple Sopwith (1:144)

Post image
16 Upvotes

I'm experimenting with a drastically simplified model, a Sopwith Triplane. Absolutely minimal detail, and nice chunky easily printable struts and things.

The original design was (I think) from CapnAhab on Thingiverse. He has done a lot of models, designed in 1:100 scale, but intended for printing at 1/300. The geometry is always very simple; no wing ribs or anything like that, and sized to be able to be shrunk down without issues.

I've just smoothed out the faceting of some (most) of the elements, and provided it with a socket for a flight stand attachment.

Having smooth wing surfaces should ease the application of decals, and I can paint on wing ribs, as I've done on 1/300 and 1/200 models.

For gaming purposes, the silhouette is much more important than fine detail, which seldom gets seen at tabletop distances in any case. I have one on the printer at this moment, so we shall see how it turns out.

So I bought travel battle. My first painting effort in 40 yrs,satisfied with my first effort at this scale, saw the results of others and realised what a piss poor job I actually did. I enjoyed the painting and I'd like another go but I'm not sure I like the original mins enough? What to do?

News Carapace Forge is LIVE!

Today is the day, my friends! Carapace Forge is now live and open for business! The site is here at Carapace Forge.

What is Carapace Forge? It is a service that gives you a new carapace 3d print or print file (your choice of tier) every month! It also has an online store where you can purchase past Carapace files and prints. The current month features the Black Reaver, our new medium range carapace.

Plus, you can also pickup the original carapace files and prints for the Virelance, Keldrath, and Thaumatarch (if you missed those from the Kickstarter). All physical prints get free shipping to any place in North America. I'm still working on shipping options for outside the U.S. (thank you, tariffs and VAT), but those are coming soon! I'm also busy working behind the scenes to add a ton of building terrain prints that will soon be available.

A lot going on this month, for sure! Thank you all for your support thus far. It is thanks to you that I'm able to continue doing this, and I am forever grateful!

Foot knights from Wargames Atlantic grand battle scale (13mm?) this is the first of my French units to use with Midgard (mini Midgard!) I added a 1p coin for scale. I’m pretty happy with how they came out!

Getting ready to prime my Napoleonics, and came across the citadel primer model holder tool thingy, and thought, I can make that out of scrap wood, some nails and rubber bands.

To my surprise it actually worked, and using an old clamp as a handle, I don't have to worry about getting paint on my hands.

Rubber bands are quite handy because they can self adjust to different bases, and have 5 nail points to choose from also helps with adaptability.

I haven't painting this guy since the lead model back from 2nd edition, this plastic model is quite the glow-up. It's taken me quite some time to get round to it but it was satisfying to finally get him varnished. I look forward to him contracting new model syndrome on the tabletop.

Recently Finished Coffeebreak Wargame is out!

48 Upvotes

I am glad to announce that the Coffeebreak Wargame series (six games in total) is now available on my itch.io profile! DriveThruRPG and Wargame Vault releases coming soon!

Coffeebreak Wargame currently boasts the following variants (itch.io links below):

• Ancient & Medieval (permanently free!)

• Pike & Shot

• Horse & Musket

• Modern

• Sword & Spell

• Battlemaul 4K

Coffeebreak Wargame is an 8x8 square grid-based, quick-play, small-footprint, singleplayer or multiplayer miniatures wargame system designed for people who:

• want an easy introduction into the world of wargaming;

• don’t have the time or space to play full-size wargames;

• simply like their tabletop gaming in small sips, like me!

Features:

• Big battles distilled into less than 10 pages while retaining the feeling of playing a full-blooded wargame;

• A single base of miniatures is a single Unit. The scale is irrelevant, as long as a single base fits neatly into a single square;

• No Hit Points. Track damage through a simple Status Track;

• A four-phase Turn structure providing clean and fast gameplay;

• (Some variants only) Choose one of the 9 Factions in this game to deploy on the board;

• (Some variants only) Field specialized and powerful Hero Units where they’re needed;

• (Some variants only) Utilize off-board Assets to help you secure victory;

• Dedicated Solo Play rules!

This game was very much inspired by Bob Cordery’s ‘Portable Wargame’ to whom I give special thanks!

Work In Progress Mecha Bardagulan - Agnostic Tabletop Battle System for your Gunpla and any other piece in your collection really

So I'm kind of an evangelizer of this game, since i've played it. It a really fun system and despite being geared towards Gundam/Gunpla and Mechas in General.

I'm posting it here because I saw a guy posting something about Legos, while that is a wargame. This system could work well too! It is geared more towards tighter fights and feels great for 1v1.

This is very much a device agnostic system. You can use anything, from your Legos, your GI Joes, your Warhammers, Heck your Joytoy or Mcfarlane collection, or Funkos. Anything man.

It also could be a great sandbox for your own campaign

I know the title is a Mouthful, in Filipino it literally means Mechanical Thuggery. But I hope you all get used to it

Recently Finished Finished EIR army for Impetus

Just finished up the main EIR army list for Basic Impetus. There are a couple extra units I want to paint that are given as options in the army list to swap out with existing units like Artillery and Numidian Cav but this is the core army and ready for battle this coming weekend. I also just got a battle mat not featured in these pics that I am excited use. These units are all based on 80x40mm bases and are 1/72 scale figs. A mix of Strelets, Hät, Airfix, Linear-A, and I think a couple Italeri figs as well.

Question It’s a hobby, don’t make it a chore!

Thumbnail
27 Upvotes

Something I’ve been thinking about. It’s on a solo gaming sub so this didn’t need saying, but worth adding for here:

Don’t have someone to play against? Solo gaming is a thing, there are lots of great rules out there for that, or many players creating homebrew for other games to help, or books on how to play solo, so there’s no excuse to stop you getting stuff on a table even if it’s just “between” club games.

The point is to enjoy your hobby, in whatever form it takes.

900 points on a small table.
A very dramatic engagement with landing boats being sunk, the commanding officer being killed in Turn2, squads having to swim to the shore and vicious hand to hand fighting over the ruined lighthouse.
The British took the victory with their very last activation after being chewed up while crossing the rocky beach.

Question New Battlemat Creator Looking for Help

Thumbnail

43 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm the creator of a new battlemat company TacMat, which is looking to launch later this year. I'm reaching out to see if anyone is interested in filling out my survey? Basically I have a limited number of sizes and designs I can launch with and so far everyone's feedback has been insanely helpful. I'm also offering a 20% discount voucher to anyone that completes it. The only caveat I have is that I am based in Australia - and while I'm trying to work out shipping overseas at the moment, the prices are absolutely brutal. Thanks in advance and I'll do my best to answer any questions here as well.

Presenting my ancient model conversion of a 3rd Ed Chaos Dreadnought mixed with a Juggernaut. It's made of metal and full of memories. I plan to bring it back to the table sometime soon, a friend is beginning to film battle reports for a 40k vs. Star Wars campaign.

It has an Assault Cannon instead of a Combi Bolter. Plays both in W40k and Warsurge, but in 40k I count the Assault Cannon as a Combi Bolter.
