Second unit - Orcs!

I've decided to try and paint up one strip per day as practice, and as a way to figure out which army I'll commit to painting up (first!) - enjoyed these Orcs immensely. A few touchups needed, but all in all, calling them done. Moving on!

Thank you! Yes, the Amethyst Blue has been my go to for vibrant green gradients lately! It's very nice to work with - and fast!

Thank you! I'm halfway through a strip of Dwarfs now - have to settle a grudge against those Orcs šŸ˜„

Thank you! The models are doing the heavy lifting. They're super nicely detailed and sculpted! šŸ˜„

They look amazing! The orange base contrasts the green nicely.

How many layers of highlights did you give the green skin? I’m trying to get better at painting 10mm, I’d love to hear any advice a skilled painter can share!

Thank you! Yeah, I figured the orange would go nicely since I use a purplish blue base for the skin (something something colour theory).

For the green skin it's actually pretty much just one layer per colour.Ā

Amethyst Blue (AK) base over black primer,

followed by Lizard Green (AK), Covering like 80-90%, leaving some shadow,

Then Frog Green (AK) on top of that following where the light hits, covering maybe 50% of that,

then Gladeshard (AP) for maybe 10% as a sharp highlight,

Finally, I end with a TINY hit of Ice Yellow (AK) 4:1 ratio with the slightest Gladeshard as a final dot right where the light hits.Ā

You can always find me on Instagram @ Alien_Boogaloo - I always post progress and I definitely don't mind sharing stuff in better detail!

Hope it helps šŸ˜„

That said, I think I'll swap out Lizard Green for a dark Olive for the next ones - think it'll be better!Ā

Also, you can totally use any other brand - these are just what I happened to have on hand. The main idea is just purple-blue -> base green -> yellowish green -> super bright yellowish green
