Question Dark Staining

Post image

Does anyone know what this dark staining on the moment which is very hard to come off is from? Does anyone have any recommendations for how to remove it? Almost like the entire movement finishing looks dull.

It’s just oxidation. A fibre glass watchmaker’s brush will get rid of much of it. Anything stronger will strip the plating and reveal the brass underneath.

Ultrasonic L&R 111, followed by 2 rinses of #3, brightens up everything I've put in it. 20 minutes per jar, no heat, I have a big Vevor 6L ultrasonic. I fill it with distilled water, and run my parts in 4 oz glass jars full of cleaning or rinse solution.

Found that very light polish appears to do the trick.
