Question What is this tool?

Hello everyone,

I've seen this item but I'm not really sure about what's the utility of it is?

I have a watch with a 8215 movement. The second hand is bended. I've tried a few other hands but not compatible because the dial is slightly domed in the center.

Maybe this tool could help me?

I’m not sure what’s for sale here, the tubes or the grey plastic thing. In any case, the tubes are riveted into the second hand- with repeated installation/removal they can become loose. You’d remove them with a staking set and rivet a new (properly sized) tube in place.

What part of the seconds hand is bent? It’s normal to put a curve in a second hand to clear a crystal, but without any photos, I can’t say what the problem is.

It allows simplifying creating hands especially sub-dial and seconds hands. You cut and broach to a larger hole and press on those tubes onto the hand and they have the accuracy for a good fit.

Those are the tubes for the center chrono hand of a 7750 movement.

If you've ever worked on a 7750, 9 times out 10, you always rip the hand off the tube of the center chrono hand because they are damn near hammered on due to the force they expirence when the hand is reset.

You purchase the tubes to then stake them onto the chrono hand you ripped apart so you can then reinstall the hand after servicing the movement.

They are pretty easy to reattach with a cheap staking set.

They do make special hand removal tools to help avoid busting the tube to shit when removing them to service but it can be expensive.

The tube would be riveted to the hand using a staking set. They’re really quite neat.
